As we all know, Ben was sacked in 2006-07 46 times. Last season he was on his back 47 times. Hardnosed uses his video expertise to break these sacks down.
From Hardnosed:
"I'm going adjust my old numbers as far as responsibility goes, as originally I started watching tape to figure out how many sacks Ben was taking outside the tackles. It evolved into how many sacks was Ben holding onto the ball too long. Well, I got to look for that in particular this time around. Of course, this is a subjective thing. What's holding onto the ball to me might not be holding onto the ball to you. But after watching, I think we can all agree that Ben's 47 sacks had a lot more to do with jailbreaks along the line than with Ben making slow or overly courageous decisions with the ball. Here's my updated numbers: Ben took 29 sacks that were of the jailbreak variety. He took 18 sacks where he could have at least thrown to his first option (covered or not). Of course, blindly throwing the ball to avoid sacks is an even worse habit to get into, Maddox style. I originally blamed 34 sacks on the line, but like I said - that wasn't what I was looking for in particular last time. Anyway, it's an interesting thing to watch and gives you a whole lot of opportunity to REALLY see why the PS gave up 47 sacks last season, whatever that conclusion may be."
