There's lots of talk about the supposed battle between Willie Colon and Max Starks at RT.
I believe that Starks is by far the superior run blocker, and is pretty much the equal of Colon when it comes to pass protection. However, we're all entitled to our opinion, and we're most likely to see Colon as the starter when the season opens so there's many observers (including myself) who simply need to accept that it's inevitable.
I think opening with Starks on the bench would be a mistake, as the Steelers need to return to a strong running game in order to sell the play action and make the passing offense more effective and efficient, while protecting Ben and the defense.
Starks gives them that chance.
Here's some visual evidence from the Buffalo game.
Colon didn't sink and Starks didn't surge, but the compeition should certainly be more open-ended than Mike Tomlin and Bruce Arians are allowing.
