I celebrated the day Jack Wilson left town -- to me it marked the end of a hideous Era and he was its symbol

Wilson didn't bother me...I was glad to see those 2 douchebags Kendall and Giles go before Wilson. Wasn't it they who were the true clubhouse cancers who chastised Wilson for his hard work and dedication? Way to set an example boys.
Anyway, My history of Pirate Assholes is a bit hazy...all I remember about Wilson is he played hard everyday and actually wanted to win and earn his paycheck. I don't see that from too many players that are currently taking up space on the current Pirate roster and I sure as fuck don't see it from the manager, the owner, or anybody else affiliated with that piece of shit team.

Wilson was the same guy who treated traded for players like dicks because he had to lose friends in the deals.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who worked harder than Pedro Alvarez this offseason, and I think Cutch, Milledge, and Walker would take exception to saying this team isn't putting up any effort.

I think it might have been true that Giles and Kendall fucked up the morale of a lot of folks (there are other culprits also), including Wilson. The attitude would grow and be bequeathed to the youngsters. It was pretty bad.

I agree 100% with Sham here. Milledge started off the year as a bum and has worked himself into a relatively decent fielder and consistent line drive hitter. Walker is all about hard work and dedication and doing the little things right to make it to the bigs and be successful here.

I have a feeling D.J. Carrasco will probably be getting moved. He has been very consistent and has become almost a stopper for this team out of the pen.

Good call! If you do well for the Pirates, they'll trade you for crap.

The Pirates have acquired Mitch Jones from the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations.

This isn't a big move for the big club because Jones certainly isn't going to don a Pirate uniform, but it does tell me that they are looking to fill an OF position. With Brandon Moss raking in AAA I could see him getting the call if they cut or move and OF (looking at you Church).

The Pirates acquired C Chris Snyder from the Diamondbacks. I've actually heard he is going to be the starter when Doumit comes back. The team has to be worried about Doumit's history of concussions, or maybe even thinking about moving him. Either way the return is expected to be very minimal for the Diamondbacks, and they are sending money our way. They are trying to shed salary and are literally gutting that team a'la us.

He is signed thru 2011 and has a large option for 2012 which I can't imagine the Pirates are looking to pick up.

He is a career .233 hitter, but he is a pretty decent defensive backstop, at least compared to Doumit. He has thrown out a solid 30% of basestealers over 7 seasons and has 6 errors over that span.

He is better than Doumit, but I'd still ike to see more from Kratz.

Upon further review the Snyder trade is starting to grow on me.

Quote:
I've been kicking this one around a lot today, and I think I like the move. Obviously it depends on what we give up, and how much money comes this way, but I do believe he is an upgrade over Doumit.

The only thing I don't like is that Kratz (who has been proving it's the catcher not the pitcher in relation to basestealers) might get sent down because

Apparently both Church and Bobby Crosby were sent to Arizona in this deal. I really like this deal now. We gave up literally nothing for an upgrade at Catcher.

PPG says deal not final, but seems a done deal. I think they said only the cash is the issue.

I like it. Anything to get rid of that fucking bum Church. I like the Catcher we'd be getting.

Helluva start last night by Maholm. I understand why we might want to trade him, though. Huntington better get fucking a LOT for him though, I mean an uneven deal for someone else, or it will look like a dump-off, because of his salary.
