Steelers’ OL coach Mike Munchak has turned down the chance for a second HC interviews with the Arizona Cardinals, per @mortreport. Munchak our and Patriots’ LB coach Brian Flores now in play.

Interesting. I wonder if something is brewing behind the scenes with the Steelers. Maybe he'll be promoted to OC, or perhaps even higher.

Yep, I'd say the OC job (at minimum) is a done deal at this point. Think about it, why would you interview in the first place if you didn't want to leave PA?....for leverage, that's why. If you did want to leave for a better position/pay, why would you then remove yourself from that opportunity?...most likely, because you've been persuaded to. My guess is Munch is our new OC or HC soon or, at the very least, is paid a shit-ton more now than last week.

Unless I was locked in as the PS OC or HC, I'd go to the AZ interview. If for no other reason than to have the experience of going through a HC interview and honing those skills.

He's probably not going to be the OC.

He might be named Assistant Head Coach and get a raise.

The other news here is that the Pats now might have to go out of their org for their new DC if their LB coach gets the job.

Maybe he did the interview and decided AZ wasn't the spot for him.

Lots of other reasons besides being the new OC.

I seem to recall back when he was hired there was some talk about taking a step down or the apparent “demotion” of going from HC to position coach.

I think the response was along the lines of he prefers teaching and being a coach rather then dealing with all the minutia that comes with a HC gig.

Some people are comfortable with where they are in life and that could be the case here.

Great news, he's our best position coach once Richard Mann retires.

That would require an admittance on the Dumbfuck In Charge (maybe that can be a new SF acronym) that he needs help.
He'd NEVER do such a thing.

Exactly right, he would never admit to that.
