Sources: The #Steelers are allowing OC Todd Haley to walk now that he’s out of his contract. Pittsburgh expected to have a new OC.

---

Wonder if Munchak declining 2nd interview with Arizona means he was promised the gig.

what will making the losing "worth it" is if Tomshit is also fired -- then, the losing will definitely be worthwhile

Worst news it being reported that Tomlin is going to bring back his whole Defensive staff according to GD

And yet a simple, no Todd we don’t want to run a sweep there could have changed everything.

It’s good he’s gone. But it equates to a lizard loosing his tail at this point.

Hopefully new OC is one smart fucker & play caller because he sure as shit isn’t going to get any help from Captin Cliche.

I know the Steelers are always too dumb and weak and scared of change, but with this group of talent, I'd love to see someone totally new come in with all new ideas on how to use the talent.

That idiot would likely roll out the same game plan he used once already to no success.

Never the plan, always the execution.

As long as the head man is still there nothing will change.
Get ready for a couple more 12-4 seasons and early playoff exits.

We will all drink the kool aid again after a successful regular season
convincing ourselves that things have change yet get our hearts ripped out by another subpar coaching job in the playoffs to an inferior team.
Mike T will then fire another coordinator and spew more bull shit at the end of the season press conference.

History doesn’t lie folks.

I'm willing to give the defensive staff another year.

There's obviously some improvements that need made, but they did some things this year I liked. Worked a lot more man schemes in and actually attempted to play New England the way you need to New England instead of our usual strategy of sitting back in zone and letting Brady slice us to to death.

I think if we were to find a competent replacement for Mitchell and another ILB, this defense could be good enough to get us where we need to be.

As bad as Haley was, lets not pretend that he was the root cause of the stench that has overcome this team. The last two playoff games were total defensive failures. The offense always managed to do its thing, despite losing key players.

Shout out to FC and B2B who tempered nearly everyone's exuberance here when Haley was originally signed as OC. I know B2B wasn't happy about having his man Arians shown the door. I will be honest and say I thought it was a good move at the time not only because it was time to move on from Arians (it was) but because what I saw Haley do with Warner, Fitz and Bolden in Arizona. I was wrong, and it didn't take long for me to think it was time to move on from Haley as well. Bottom line, FC and B2B warned us what the cuckolded golfer was all about so kudos to you guys.

If we can have an offensive coordinator who understands the defense is a liability and can regularly put up 42 points against the best defenses, that would be beneficial. Instead of someone who wants to "keep it close and win by a field goal at the end." This team is capable of throttling people. So throttle them.

Me too, Suwanee. Maybe Art II and Bob Nutting are one in the same. Next they’re going to announce Mike Mitchell will return as the starting free safety

No he wasn't but certainly a top 3 contributor.

After signing him to a Willie Colon-like extension

I'm concerned about the regression of the D Line. It was supposed to be a strength, but it has developed into a glaring weakness. While Heyward had a good year, Tuitt and Hargrave did not. Combined with the loss of Shazier, the generally poor quality of the rest of the ILB squad, and the fizzling of the Bud Dupree experiment, I am concerned that the Defense as presently constituted is simply not good enough. Maybe a new regime with new ideas could take the raw materials the Steelers have now and mold them into something effective. If we stick with the current concepts, then I think it will take a number of significant FA acquisitions to get the D where it needs to be. Unfortunately, I don't think that the Steelers will be able to both retain Bell and improve the Defense (unless they can strike absolute gold with cheap defensive FAs).
