That would make most sense. At least while Ben is here.

How many ex-Steelers do we need to hire as coaches?

Being an ex-Steeler doesn’t mean you know how to coach.

I just remember it being said that Ben relied on Batch a great deal when Batch was here. Fire Porter to keep the number of former players at a stable level.

Maybe Santonio Holmes as assistant WR coach. He'd be a great mentor for Bryant.

At this point in Ben’s career he doesn’t need a QB coach. He simply needs a guy that is going to be there during film study and on the sidelines to discuss things. Batch is perfect for that.

When Ben retires make a change then if need be.

But they’ve had such great success hiring ex-Steelers...

I wouldn’t mind Batch at all. Everyone needs someone to bounce things off, watch his footwork and mechanics. Batch knows him well and think that Ben really respects him. He was always the first guy Ben would talk to coming off the field and looking at the pics/tablet with. Would be a great hire IMO

That's a really good point. I think Ben got pretty close which Fitchner the past several years and that had a really positive impact on his game.

Ben does need a smart, experienced guy to review the overheads with. Double-duty for Hines? I recall Hines being widely regarded around the league as one of the smartest guys playing. But I think there's strong chemistry with Batch.

Doesn't appear to be true with Kevin Greene and Darren Perry.....they're just hiring the wrong ex-Steelers :D

It isn’t just about coaching Ben, there are three QBs on the roster. Do many of you expect Randy to be the OC and still have time to coach up Josh Dobbs or another 3rd round draft pick? A QB coach is essential to develop all of your QBs, as well as offer new ideas, a fresh perspective.

Is Randy officially OC?
