If we keep Bell, I'm calling my shot now, I think Big Ben wins the MVP next year and we'll have a top 3 offense, health dependent.

Let him walk? I think our SB chances would drop to about half a percent, so basically, no chance in hell. Remember life before Bell, when we were trying to make Jonathan Dwyer a thing? Trying to convince ourselves that Redman was a stud?

I know, it's heresy to think Bell might be worth 8% of our cap, which is what $15 mil would be for next year. I think they'll smartly tag him and keep hoping to work out a long term deal.

With you on this. I think folks vastly underestimate Bell's importance.

But then I thought we'd be screwed without Bryant blowing up.

Everyone points to break our backs found in R2, 3. We HAVE a sure thing right now. Who knows what we get from the draft.

Tag that ingrate and roll.

When we had Dwyer and Redman, we didn’t have the other skill talent around Ben that we do now.

However I am torn.

I think we could get by without him and just a nominally good RB in his place.

Not sure I’d want to risk it.

If they can find a way to both keep Bell and significantly strengthen the middle of the defense, then sure. But I don't like their chances of winning a Super Bowl with Hargrave, Spence, Bince, Mitchell, and Davis even if they have Bell.

ya not saying i love the idea of getting rid of Bell, just that, our defense is so far away from being championship caliber...im actually starting to think the problem may not be the players but the Coaches, and that includes Tomlin whose got his fingerprints all over that defense..

I'll put money down that Mitchell, Spence, Sensebaugh, and Gay are gone next year. They'll draft safety's and ILB while keeping an eye on RB. Then the BPA after double dipping on the two most glaring problems with the defense. Pass rrushers, etc. What's strong in this years draft?

tough decision indeed..forgotten on bell the running back is bell the receiver! just losing bell the runner would be ok and replaceable I believe. but the combo is difficult. I'm tore so I just wait and see.

In theory, Colbert could be talking to GMs before/after Bell is FT'd in hopes of finding someone to trade him to.
Now, I get the 1st round picks would be a huge deal and I'm not saying it would happen.
However, it's obvious Bell is just looking for the most money he can get. If a team is willing to give up
the 1sts, they dang sure intend to pay him a ton. If Colbert knows this and Bell knows this, I don't see
why Bell wouldn't run to sign the FT knowing another team is going to pay him a boatload via trade.

Possible B2B?

Hershel Walker part deux. He's a 2nd rounder who has excelled for us. Trade him for good draft picks and solid players @ ILB, FS after he signs the FT. I would talk w/ the 49ers and see what we could do.
