I had to start a new thread to address this. For those calling out Porter to be fired. He is Tomlin's boy. His ace. His broski. Unless EMR tells Tomlin it's Joey or you, Joey isn't getting canned.

Don't you remember those fun articles about Herm Tomlin and Joey hanging at their son's HS football games. Screaming at refs, standing where they shouldn't be and blocking views of fans, etc etc. To the point where the police had to intervene on two occasions?

Joey is an untouchable. If anything he would get promoted.

1. Is Joey Porter officially on notice in 2018?

Porter has been the recipient of several high draft picks at the outside linebacker position, but the lack of development has been evident. T.J. Watt is a tireless worker, and was able to cash in on several hustle plays, but still is very raw when it comes to a technical pass rusher. Bud Dupree is another raw contributor to the defense, but after three seasons with Porter, he has shown little-to-no improvement in the technical aspect of the game. This is a results based business. If Porter doesn’t start to get some production from his bookend pass rushers next year, he could be in the unemployment line. https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/p ... ith-butler
Not just folks here at this site RS that are calling for a change. Whether that happens as you stated is another story. IMO the writing's on the wall in bright fluorescent....

Porter may be an idiot off the field and even on the field considering he punched William Green in warmups.

He was a very successful pass rusher in the NFL... Do you honestly think he is unable to relay to our current players how he did it or maybe we just draft shitty prospects that aren't athletically capable as he was? Jones was a bust and Dupree is headed down the same road. Watt certainly slowed down as the season progressed which is normal for a rookie but he is widely regarded as a top 3 candidate for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

I'm not sure how much position coaches matter if the player cant execute what they are being coached.

I've always thought that we have no idea of the effectiveness of position coaches. We're not at practice and can't clearly connect player performance to the job that position coaches do.

I forgot to add, if you had to bet on which coach was showing up late who would you lay your cash on...........Porter? yeah, that's the safe bet.

Me too... this is not HS Junior Varsity where you learned a lot from your linebackers coach on how to play the position. At some point, and especially at the NFL level you either have it or you dont. I also dont know what input Porter has in the draft process. I assume it is far less than Colbert, Tomlin, and even a respected scout.

I also think the most coachable positions at the NFL level as far a technique (talent excluded) are OL, DL/pass rusher... and maybe CB/WR. The rest are based more on instinct and physical ability in my opinion.

Joey standing super close to Tomfuck, getting the protection from the Rooney Rule Umbrella -- keeps them both nice and dry and out of the rain

Yes, Pal Joey is right up Tomlin's alley. A fucking loudmouth with no filter. Like Mike Mitchell. Like Lev Bell.

like joey the player..but seeing him in a coaching job seems odd. I find it hard to imagine him a great teacher.. and results seem hidden if they exist..
wish we had kevin greene at the spot. better yet id offer greene defensive coordinater spot..

Peezy maybe a shitty coach, not sure kinda think he is. However there is not a coach in the world that could make Dupree a good football player. That guys is soft, weak, and frankly a coward. That is on Colbert, who frankly has failed overall in rebuilding the defense. I like Peezy as a player, set a good edge, excellent pass rusher, and was sort of the enforcer when shit got nasty. In fact he even had a huge impact in a huge game as coach, see the Bengals playoff implosion. Right in the middle of it was Peezy, with his "what the fuck did I do" face on laughing at Burfict and Jones

Well something had to be done and there has to be responsibility somewhere
The defense is terrible
And in the last two playoff games they have been embarrassingly bad

Coach K on tv now talking about coaches and BB ... said everyone wants to win but not everyone is willing to do the hard work ... give more than lip service

...just saw a clip on Brady's finger, asking Belichick about it at his presser. He simply says, "Getting ready for Jacksonville."

Can you imagine if the Jackass Mike Tomlin was asked that question? He would still be spewing bullshit. I knew we all hate Belichick, but I admire him. Wish the fuck he was our coach.

Cowher has his detractors here i know but Tomlin cant hold a candle to him or wash his jock strap. To your point yes i wish BB was our coach, no BS just all about winning.

I think coaching at all levels is incredibly relevant. Can’t specifically speak to Porter and his LBers, but I do know that playing ability has absolutely zero correlation with coaching ability
