I know it doesn't officially start until March [a month away] but...

Quote:
Jets' front office poised to make key salary cap cuts
DL Muhammad Wilkerson (2018 salary: $16.75 million; 2018 cap hit: $20 million) - The only question is whether they designate him a pre-June 1 cut (clearing $11 million cap space) or a post-June 1 cut ($17 million in savings). https://www.sny.tv/jets/news/jets-front ... /266396984
Could this be a Tyson Alualu type signing? Wasn't Dunbar his line coach? Hmmm....

He already raped the Jets for almost $54 million and did next to nothing. I doubt that spigot will flow again after what he pulled.

Got to admit like Alualu he'd be a nice depth player.... of course for a fraction of his past contract.

LOL....how much more money do you guys want to sink into the DL when it's our secondary that can't cover anyone?

Is It? I know it looks that way but looks are deceiving. How much of a pass rush does this defense produce on any given down? Look over the season and you'll see very fucking little. Between DLine and LB'ers this defense is soft and sorry. Heyward was the only consistent pass rusher and even he fell off towards the end. Tuitt started out strong until his bicep injury and finished with a whimper. Alualu did a decent job but was still in his learning curve which limited his production. We all know about Hargrave's unmentioned injury that limited his production. Can you imagine a rotation of Heyward, Tuitt, Hargrave, Alualu and Wilkerson? With LT Walton thrown into the mix. A good pass rush starts with the front 7. A good pass defense is aided by a good pass rush. It's likely not a reality signing a big name like Wilkerson anyway. Just a wishful thought from a fan.

Steelers were ranked ninth in QB pressures and didn't they finish first in team sacks and tied with Jax for first in sacks per game?

Yes, OLB sacks pressure not what we want, but clearly our secondary is drowning in a pool of dicks.

No...looks aren’t deceiving.

The secondary blew coverages left and right...as Lit pointed out, we got good pressure this year, but if a guy is coming wide open because our DBs drop coverages, no amount of pressure is going to get there in time.

Pool of dicks is an unpleasant visual

Our DL didn’t get pressure and our OLBs are a joke... yet we had nearly a team record sacks and top 10 pressures.

Stop letting facts get in the way of a good story.

And yet they pretty much played contain up front and zone in the back end vs Blake fn Bortles. Just a shit sandwich of a gameplan vs the jags.

Wish we could have gotten some pressure on Bortles

Oh well

Point is, the secondary is by far the shittiest thing going on defense.

Blown coverages are a major, but not only reason they lost to Jax.

I recall the D had a third and long and Bortles tossed a slant that went for 40 yards or so bc done asshole blew coverage.

Balls are coming out under three seconds. Sacks are nice. Hard to get there in under three seconds. Pressures are the new, better measure. The D is top 10 in pressures.

The secondary is TERRIBLE.

Burns. Mitchell.

The rest had their breakdowns too, but Burns and Mitchell were both just so flat-out awful.

All that production in terms of sacks and pressures, but all that vanished come playoff time. Great.

Leads me to believe that is almost entirely on coaching and not having this team focused for the Jacksonville game, even though they curb stomped us at Heinz just two months prior.

But back on topic, we need a secondary threat and a ILB.

Or coaching was keeping them afloat for a few weeks, and a quality opponent revealed that the front 7 was undermanned and worn down.

Excuses!! Where was cam Sutton who had a good showing vs NE if Burns wasnt up to par?? Mitchell was exhausted from all his pre game trash talk outside the Jax lockerroom...Tomlin was too busy looking ahead to NE to come up with anything resembling a winning gameplan vs Jax.

Seriously?? Gimme a break with the excuses, Tomlin and Tomlin only wears that performance vs Jax, another lesson learned (hopefully) dont look past your present opponent.

A case can be made Sutton should have played more, so you have a gripe there.

The replacements on hand for Mitchell were not significantly better so not so much of a gripe there.

Jeemie, hes had at the very least 2 maybe 3 seasons to evalute Mitchells subpar performances and find a replacement, methinks Mitchell was a personal signing by Tomlin himself, banged the table for his contract and his signing..just my opinion i know.

...and Cam Sutton wasnt there more than likely because the lame ass gameplan called for zone coverage..and they didnt think Sutton could play zone.
