I've always thought I know a catch when I see it. Especially with freeze frame slow motion - if at that point you have any doubt then it's clearly not a catch.

This all really went askew when they apparently dispensed with the standard of "indisputable" evidence.

The Survive the Ground rule was easily the worst rule ever created and stands as a monument to owners Lack of football understanding. It's a shame that the Steelers and Jesse James had to be the last straw.

In my opinion, the original Catch rule from the 70's and 80's is the best. You establish control of the football and you get 2 feet on the ground and it's a catch. They never should have changed it in the first place. The first egregious change was "make a football move".

The reason why they changed it was because sometimes a guy would catch the ball and get 2 feet down and then get it knocked out and it would be called a Fumble. That rubbed some Owner wrong and they started to make a fuss. But according to the original rules, if you establish control of the football and get 2 feet down, and then Lose the football, it's a fumble, as it should be, Deal with it.

Get rid of "make a football move". Go back to Old school football.

'70's, 80's, 90's, somehow we knew what a catch was then. Can't we just go back to that?

In the endzone, both feet, knee, elbow, fucking dick down for goodness sake, on the ground for a split second...play dead Fucking touchdown. the exact same way if a runner reaches the ball over the goal line for a split second...touchdown.

Start there...

I've always wanted to see them implement the 15 yards and 1st down instead of the spot foul and 1st down. Manning, Brady, Dalton, Flacco would all have worse QB rankings....

They have always ruled this way (except against the Pats ;) ) There are lots of plays where the WR catches the ball and get 2 feet down in the EZ then has the ball slapped away and it is called a TD.

You know which QB led the NFL in DPI yards last year?

Per game, it looks like Minnesota, with mostly Case Keenum as the leader, but Houston's QBs piled together some impressive numbers as well.

It won't matter, there's only one solution: A CATCH IS A NON-REVIEWABLE JUDGMENT CALL, as long as there is bullshit replay, some asshole Al Riveron type will notice some other reason to micromanage a situation and again back to square one.

They'd have to do away with the 10 camera angles and the ultra high def slow mo replays for the viewing audiences. Otherwise there will be non-stop outrage throughout the world of social media after each and every game. It would make the current post-game outrages look like child's play. You'd probably beg for them to bring back replay.

Actually, PIT was third. NE was #1 at 355

LOL! As if there isn't constant outrage with replay! Replay itself causes most of it. Just move on quickly between plays, FORCE the networks to FORCE the announcers to not point out the few errors that they think happen. FORCE them to not show replays of catches and FORCE them to not show slow motion replays... make all of that a part of the contract.

And I don't care if the post game outrages are worse, at least during the game it would be ignored and I would feel happier watching the game and would enjoy the experience more.

For me, it's not a religion, it's just a TV show. I HONESTLY, HONESTLY, HONESTLY don't care if they get things perfect, I just want it to be the way it was again. I know they won't do that, actually I hope the XFL goes no replay, I might quit the NFL for the XFL if they do.

Actually, I am giving up football a lot for minor league soccer, because the great thing is that soccer currently doesn't use replay, and the minor leagues can't afford it, making that sport GREAT!

Actually I like the spot foul, it's always helped Ben, I like the EXTREME penalty, it's FUN. FUN matters more than anything. Hope they don't do this. More ruination of a formerly great game, I LOVE SOCCER NOW. Football is slow and boring, too many rules and too much stoppage. Way too much review and nitpicking, seriously I am really walking away from this game a lot, I will watch the Steelers games ONLY, almost nothing else as far as this boring sport.

I’m going by football outsiders and Aditi. I suspect there’s something else included in your numbers, like holding or declined penalties.

It was almost the identical number you had for Ben at 300.

And it SHOULD include defensive holding. And the relevant number is penalty called, not only accepted (in those cases where the receiver still catches the ball).

Football Outsiders must be accepted penalties only...
Brady 12/287, Rivers 16/231, KEENUM 14/284, BEN 14/299
