Despite the obvious lack of talent, the Ravens' offense still averaged 26.4 pts in the final nine games of the season, which ranked fourth in the NFL.

Still, being a HOF tight end, Ravens' GM Ozzie Newsome can't feel too good about his current TE depth chart of Nick Boyle, Maxx Williams, and somebody named Vince Mayle.

If only he were younger...

...With the 52nd pick in the 2018 SteelerFury draft, the Baltimore Ravens select, Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina

Ravens Selections:
1.) Da'Ron Payne DT Alabama
2.) Hayden Hurst TE South Carolina

Had a deal in place to trade up for this player at pick 40... except that I decided it was a totally irresponsible luxury pick when I'd have to give up a pick for another position group.

Now, it's BPA.

I am very happy with the contributions both Ladarius Green and Vance McDonald have made in Pittsburgh but both have had a history of injury issues. Maybe that's the way it is with thoroughbreds. And, yes, McDonald blocked very well this year and yes Jesse James had a decent year as the #2 (despite, apparently, playing through injury), but I don't really want to see JJ as the emergency starter very often. And, there's no rule against rolling out 3 good TEs like a normal NFL franchise, and this new OC has a reputation for rotating skill position players and personnel... more is better.

This TE is a little different animal than any of the guys we have. He's big but has a burst and quickness that rivals McDonald's. He has body control in the air and hands that MCDonald can only dream of. I've seen the comp to Travis Kelce and I think that's a pretty good comp to hope for.

P.S.: Anyone who thinks he's strictly a product of lower LOC... watch the tape vs TCU 2016. There's nuanced route-running and burst there that defeats their talent. Granted, that's an "almost" Power conference ;)

With the 60th pick in the SF BOard Mock Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select:

Image

Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a WR situation. They have a lot of guys but not a lot of players, if you know what I mean. They add a guy they hope can be a player:

See if any of this sounds familiar:

"Rapid-fire stutter steps and head fakes defeat outside and inside leverage. Effective setting up route-stems. Accelerates out of cuts creating throwing window. Scratches and claws over top of press and has early quickness to stack them. Can work inside or outside and has been effective on all three levels. Former walk-on with elevated level of competitiveness. Field fast throughout the route. Top notch ball tracker whose focus sharpens down the field. Body adjustments to haul in challenging catches is excellent. Works with scrambling quarterbacks. Slick with his feet near the sideline. Creates yardage after the catch. Ultra-competitive and highly productive, plays with a chip on his shoulder that has driven him to out-work the man across from him.

This prospect isn't perfect but he seems to have the work ethic and will that will be a perfect fit in a room where that is the standard. The Steelers need some WR help- they have 4 dependable WRs... one is coming off an ACL tear and one is entering into the last year of his contract. God forbid another suspension or injury hits them if they don't get someone ready to play right away. This is a high-floor pick of a guy who is a little more mature in the process and who has a lot of dog in him.

With the 72nd pick in the SF Board Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select:

Anthony Miller, WR, Memphis
