If this is true then that is really cool. Rudolph in the 3rd last year is still a good draft pick and to be completely honest Dobbs is not a bad pick either. They have 2 young kids trying to learn to play with no real pressure on them.

Rudolph is going to be negotiating C$3 before he ever starts a game.

Honestly, if Rudolph shows you enough to pass Dobbs on the chart, I'm looking to move Dobbs for a minimal return. I think you always want to have a guy you trust as your #2 and then a developing QB with upside at #3. Steelers haven't done that enough.

He’s the 3rd backup QB we have drafted in the last 6 years. Meanwhile Ben keeps on ticking and kicking ass. Wasting those picks on backup QBs was dumb. I could see one; but three???

Not sure I see the point in keeping Dobbs after that Oakland debacle.

This article really troubles me:

https://steelersdepot.com/2019/05/the-s ... a-problem/

I have to admit. I had no clue our UDFA hit rate was so poor relative to other teams. I would have thought middle of the pack. That's either bad scouting, lazy negotiating, being cheap on UDFA signing bonuses, or some combination of those. It's not like our roster has been so elite that there is no room for anyone.

Question I have is this : Have those UDFA signings lead to championships? Number of snaps or who made the 52 means nothing, really. Doesn't everybody consider UFDA's a gamble anyway? That just tells me they focus on the drafted players, not the players that stand little chance of making the roster.

The Steelers UDFA success rate has fallen over the past few years....Fucking Tomlin ignoring the players the scouting staff and Colbert wanted to sign is too blame ;)

We have had strong drafts and good talent on the roster. No room for snaps from the undrafted.

The metric was UDFA the Steelers signed over the past 3 years. It ignores Hilton, Feiler, Finney, Foster, Boswell, Berry, and Xavier Grimble. And I am not even digging around in their roster.

If I read it right, they are talking about UDFAs signed immediately after the draft, which, of course, is nitpicking just to nitpick.

Yeah, the Depot guys have to come up with articles and pull stuff out of their asses to pass the time, slow news day, etc.

Sorry but getting upset that there aren't enough UDFAs making the team and being productive doesn't have to be a negative thing.

The past 3 years, Colbert and the Steelers have really made more of a push in free agency, in trades.

Vance McDonald, Joe Haden, Tyson Alualu, Morgan Burnett, Jon Bostic, Steven Nelson, Mark Barron, Donte Moncreif. Yes, Burnett and Bostic didn't not work out, but that 2017 free agent/trade class sure did, and the 2019 free agent class look real strong too.

Does anybody really want the Steelers to stop ratcheting up their playing in free agency? So that we can have a few UDFAs make the team and not make any impact of note??

I think I could have picked them better UDFAs the last three years than they picked, and I'm dead certain this board collectively could have.

A newly released FA that could be worth an invite. Only 24 yrs old. Potential and athleticism is there. Inconsistent effort is the issue.

Also...

Bucs released DT Gerald McCoy. Be a great package DT. Wonder what it would take to sign a decorated vet.

“Inconsistent effort” is a kind way of saying lazy...no thanks.

True Rum. It is hard to tell why he has that 'label' for sure. Could just be a change in scenery is all it takes. Didn't have an issue in Clemson performing/producing.

If you look at his draft reviews, he admits it. If he knows it, but hasn’t done anything to correct it, that’s not a good sign.
The Steelers have had their share of players going through the motions for the paycheck over the years...I’d steer clear.

At the pro level “inconsistent effort” means “ain’t gonna work” in any sense of the term.
