Shazier struggled anytime he faced a quality team or opponent.

I had Shazier 96th on my top 100 board...I believe Shazier's fit in the draft is where the Steelers drafted Dri Archer.

I concede another shitty GM like Kevin Colbert would have reached for Shazier

Shazier does not play fast when he is asked to

Take on blocks
Read and React

Despite his timed speed Shazier does not play fast against the run

shazier does not play fast.

My words and I stand by them to this day.

Here’s the real problem.....Aaron Fucking Donald was 2 picks away and I am guessing the 3 stooges were eating a foot long and a bag of Cheetos at that time. And I guarantee it they would have passed him up if he dropped to them. “Bad fit.”

if there is one thing you CANNOT say about Shazier is that he does not play fast. Most say he plays too fast at times.

Well I can say it...And I have said it for a few years now.

Shazier was we will say football dumb...False steps, confusion where to line up, misreads of blocking schemes/routes/route progressions, .zone recognition(who to cover)

He was a 4.45 guy who played like a 4.65 guy because of what was above his shoulders

Those who don't learn from something are doomed to repeat it

Talent wise Shazier was the elite of the elite

is that clip supposed to prove something. A counter play that he played perfectly. Kept is feet under him, took a first step with the direction of the fake, recognized the counter, and drove back to the ball with elite speed. That's text book ILB play on a counter.

Problem in, with his speed and closing ability, he is a missile and needs to bow the neck and keep the eyes up to the extreme.

FC's points are more valid than people want to admit because it's all or nothing for most of you guys.

Shazier was the D's biggest playmaker, no doubt. His play saved a couple games. Guy loves football and he played hard. It hurts to see what happened, happen to a guy like him. But fact is considering his speed, he struggled in coverage and whiffed a bit in the run game for above-the-head reasons. I do think the mental part of his game was improving, but I think he was a year or so away from being the guy that everyone claims he was before the injury.

I also think that if he plays against Jax, steelers season extends at least a week. That said, if he plays against New England, who knows. That game was close enough where one play from your biggest playmaker on D is the difference between a one seed and a two-seed.

But it's football, injuries happen. And when your backup plan is on the couch waiting for you to call ....bad things are bound to happen.
