Yeah- I can't figure that part of it out.

When I was in college, I smoked pot (among other things)...and I mean, REALLY smoked it. Like...smoked it every day smoked it...smoked away a potential 3.70-4.00 GPA down to a 3.30 GPA smoked it (which was a bad enough mistake).

But when it was time to go job-hunting after college, I quit without a second thought. Down from every day, several times a day to zero times a day.

And it was no problem to do that....and I wasn't going after millions of dollars...just an entry-level job.

Agree. Jesus jumpin' Christ people here post without thinking lol

Without thinking that Le'veon Bell already had a suspension for possession of pot.
Without thinking that Le'veon Bell is a totally selfish POS by not showing up for a drug test. Either that or completely fucking stupid.
Without thinking that Le'veon Bell when healthy can't stay on the fucking field to save his life.
Without thinking that Le'veon Bell is busy producing rap songs demanding $15mil a year.
Without thinking that Roger Goodell isn't some sort of benevolent soul that will give Bell a break for whatever reason after slamming one of the NFL's golden boys for deflated footballs.

Yeah Luca, I didn't think at all before I posted that above.

And burghboy, glad to have provided you some entertainment this morning, because nothing about this story is good for the Steelers. However, if you can tell me what good this situation produces, I'll gladly retract my post.

It would be a really good situation for the team that picked him for the 3/4 of the season he is eligible to play. Now OBVIOUSLY the situation sucks but cutting him would be just about the dumbest fucking thing to do. Even if you wanted to get rid of him if you had suggested a trade it would make more sense.

You know, back in 2010, Art Rooney II went nuts and unloaded Santonio Holmes because he kept getting into trouble. And almost unloaded Ben.

Six years later...we still have this recurring problem of our players getting into trouble...and I'm not just talking about Bryant and Bell...Ta'amu...Adams...Pouncey...Saunders...

If it is the "buddy buddy" culture that Mike Tomlin has instituted, why isn't Art II doing something about it?

After 2010, he seemed to stop caring about it.

Same problems, but the truth is, not the same relative importance to this team...

I still contend that The Great Holmes Incident was due to timing (Milledgeville), and meant at least partly to be a message to Ben to straighten up or else...

I'd say the results have payed off pretty huge.

Mind you, these current fuckups are a big part of this offense, but the most important piece to this offense is off the discipline radar...

They won't likely be "unloaded" ala Holmes, but their days are numbered with a Rooney-owned organization, book it...

...but I hear you...the Tomlin "Lack o' Discipline" train keeps rolling along...

Well that should put an end to the long term contract speculation over Bell.

Hey maybe the oddsmakers are right and Bell is overrated.

can you please go back to your "not paying attention" hole, Nick?

I'm just losing interest in the whole NFL to be honest, you might enjoy it, I just don't see any other sports entity spend so much time on "policing" people like the NFL does. It's a true refelction of America, lets chase Freddy Gray down the alley 50 times a year to get those 2 little crack rocks.

Nick- probably 90+% of the posters here believe that this shouldn't be an issue.

However, until such time as the NFL changes its rules, the players have to conform...and if they can't, we can't be carrying them around on our team.

So what's wrong with saying it? I know a lot of people here agree with my, so why does it bother people to hear it said? What audience is the NFL trying to play to with all the aggressive policing they do?

I did, too, Jeems.....though it took me a few years after college to stop. In fact, had just graduated, jobless for awhile, had jury duty in downtown Pittsburgh....would walk down to Point Park, get high at lunchtime, sit on the jury in the afternoon.

a- someone already said it in the thread.
b- it's what you ALWAYS say

Right now, the rules are the rules, and Bell has hurt this team by falling afoul of them.

Over something that is fucking EASY to not do.

You wanna earn big bucks...just lay off the fucking weed (and I have no doubt in my mind he missed the test because he was worried he'd piss hot- be completely surprised if it's something else).

Like I said...I had to choose between weed and a $25,000 entry-level job. I chose the job with no problems.

Millions of dollars can't motivate Bell to do the same?

Everyplace that I worked in has piss tests. Some random and Ive been tapped on the shoulder more than once for a random.

Fuck him if he has to jeopardize doing what he loves to do while making millions at it. BTW, I barely tolerate what I do and I certainly don't makes millions doing it, double fuck that numbskull.

Thank you lord for D'anjello Williams, he will see us through Bell's assholery once again.

I haven't seen anything mentioned that he is appealing it which according to PFT he is. Article says maybe has a valid excuse like miscommunication? It looks like it is not set in stone yet that he will be suspended.........yet

Agree to some degree. If he can stay on the field for that 3/4 - doubtful given his injury history. Also I truly doubt he learns anything from this since he learned nothing from the last suspension.

How many here could go cold turkey from having a drink-- even a lite beer-- or, say, smoking?

Even if someone promised to triple your salary, that would be a hard thing for most normal adults, let alone addicts.

We don't know if he is addicted to pot. He could just be an idiot.

But it's a valid point. Triple my salary and threaten my job if I enjoy a beer? Would be tough, but if you have bills to pay and mouths to feed, gotta do what you gotta do, right?

I'm just worried that this shows how dumb bell (ha) really is. The lost cash has had to have been explained to him at this point. What's the average NFL career? Three seasons? The guy is going to wake up one morning and what could have been a storied NFL career will be gone. It's sad, really.

Have him serve the suspension then get what we can get the remainder of the season out of him. Hopefully he will be healthy for playoff run. Then play hardball with the franchise tag in the offseason.if we tag him and he pops hot again we don't have to pay him. if suspended correct? So low risk and only hits the cap that one year.

Force him to prove to the team and league that he scan stay clean. If he plays nice and signs the tag, run him till his fucking legs fall off and see where things are the following year.

I don't give this fuck a big contract now.

I've done it for far less reasons. Granted, I'm not an alcoholic, but I do LOVE beer. But I convinced myself two years ago that I needed to get in really great shape and that I'd need to cut out beer to do it. So I went 6 months without beer. Wasn't that big of a deal. Just have to be mentally sound enough to say no. If someone would offer me millions of dollars to never drink beer again...I would never drink beer again.

And if he doesn't have that mental toughness, or he is legitimately addicted, then he has to be smart enough to get help. As a wealthy professional athlete with a billion dollar company behind him, he has all the resources in the world available to him, all he has to do is take the initiative to use them.

There's just no excuses for it.

Agreed, but on this topic, there are two legit ways to comment. You can comment on the stupidity of the person who's getting suspended or you can comment on the stupidity of the rules suspending him. Both are equally legit directions to go.
