Report: Steelers eye Mexico City game in 2018

The Steelers are working on playing a game in Mexico City during the 2018 season, ESPN.com’s Jeremy Fowler reported Wednesday.

The NFL officially announced Wednesday that the Patriots and Raiders will play in Mexico City next season. The Raiders were the home team for a 2016 Monday Night Football Game in Mexico City against the Texans.

The report said the Steelers “were exploring” a 2017 game in Mexico City before the NFL decided on Patriots vs. Raiders. Per the NFL’s schedule rotation, the Steelers would have a 2018 game at the Raiders though it’s not certain that would be the matchup.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Wednesday the league was pleased with the results of last year’s Mexico City trip and intended to make a multi-year commitment to playing there.

Looks like the Raiders may head south of the border 2x maybe 3x in a row

I'm very surprised its taken the NFL three seasons to get the Steelers to play there. I thought for sure the Steelers would be the first team to play in Mexico when it was announced there would be a game there last year. The Steelers have a huge following there. I wouldn't even bet a paycheck that the Raiders popularity in Mexico is bigger than the Steelers. The Steelers just may be the biggest draw there, but one things for sure, it will be a successful draw/game for the NFL.

My good friend's wife is from Mexico City and we are obviously deep in Ravens country. Her 3 brothers are HUGE Steelers fans and it drives my friend crazy. There is a big Steelers following in Mexico City.

I don't mind so long as it's not a "home" game for the Steelers.

Whew what a relief. The thread title led me to believe the Steelers were considering bringing back Vick.

I'm thinking it WOULD BE a Steelers home game...basing that simply on the London game against the Vikings in'13 having been an away game for the Steelers.

No game, fake news

The Steelers will not be playing in Mexico City in 2018, a team source said, despite a national report.
