I thought the Steelers' offer for Bell was more than reasonable. Bell feels that he is a top flight RB AND WR, and wants to be paid as an amalgam of both. He'll surely find someone willing to do that, but the Steelers are a championship team and have to fit others under budget as well.

Meanwhile the Rams are a shit team that just realized they made a mistake in franchising a CB. I guarantee that the Rams are not franchising Johnson next year. The Steelers might just franchise Bell again.

I really have no idea what Bell would get as a FA. $12M sounds about right to me (which is probably why PIT was comfortable tagging him), but yeah the market isn't valuing RB's. Next year might be a different story if you use a transition tag and let the market decide what he's worth. On the other hand, I believe after 2 years Bell is "out of the drug program" and then you don't have the same risk of losing him a long time for a positive test.

I have no idea what the trade value is for a franchise corner in his last year (and already tagged once). You're talking $20M+ to tag him the next year, so that's out of the question. And I'm not sure of the rules, but you aren't going to be able to get him under contract....so what draft pick or player are you willing to part with to rent a guy for one season at $17M?

Taking Johnson and letting Bell walk is an interesting proposition. But I wouldn't be so quick to cast aside a generational talent at RB. I'm not sure that swap really makes the team better, but it does eat up another $5M in cap.

I don't believe anyone was going to give up two first rounds picks for Bell.

Was this suggested some where?

I actually think someone might. Hell, I might pull the trigger on that. I'd take Gurley ang T. Johnson for him.

Guarantee all you folks wanting to trade Bell for Johnson didn't watch a full Rams game all last season. The guy wasn't that great.

BTW, the number of failed drug tests by Le'veon Bell? 0. Common misconception.

Any hand-ringing over Bell's character is risible. The dude is not Bryant. Not even close.

I'd trade Bell to San Francisco for their #1,3, and 5 and grab the QB Allen.

1.QB Allen or if it's #1 overall Darnold.
1b.CB
2.FS
3.RB
3b.ILB or DE depending on how Williams looks
4.OLB
5a. ILB or DE (see 3b)
5b.DT
6.OT
7.OG

2019
1.TE
2.OG
3.WR
4.OLB
5.S
6.CB
7.DE
