This is what concerns me. The Lions don't have an "acknowledged" run game. It's very possible they could have after this game. The Steelers are very average vs the run. Especially if Tuitt is still out. My hope is they do not over look this team's potential going into Detroit. I think y'all know what I'm trying to say.

Hmmm ?.....let me think on that for a bit

I always liked reading the posts on bets when we used to be on Stillers - especially when the losers didn't settle up.

Isn't that the nature of football? You run your routes, take your assignment like it were the super bowl. Next man up? I don't deny you can get complacent, but he's taking it to extremes, and didn't even wait for the second half of the season before he started whining. Whether or not he's influenced by his agent or girlfriend is another matter, but there is no doubt in my mind he needs an altitude check.

Only 1 deep ball in the bunch. Must be another Steelerfury urban legend, like a lot of things about the players and playcalling.

I will take that bet at $100 to the podcast team if Bryant is on the field for 75% of the snaps.

Deal ?

Bryant is #3 on the team in targets (behind AB and Bell). And his 36 targets on the year are more than guys like Mohamed Sanu, Nelson Agholor, and Danny Amendola. I don't disagree that Ben was forcing the ball too much to AB, but I completely disagree that he's been getting 'lulled to sleep'

Attitude check, no doubt.

But with a guy who has had his issues staying on track-- you keep him engaged. After the bye, I guess.

That targets stat is useless without context. Sanu gets a full route tree. Bryant gets two routes and a 0 screen. Dude has had thee targets on routes different than those three this year, had a nice grab on an out route, a 25 yard gain on a post/dig, and a slant TD. The problem to me is that we only have him running two routes. That's such bullshit.

This from a longtime Bryant fan. Dude has not demonstrated he can stay clean despite multiple chances, has shown incapable of being a good teammate on numerous occasions, neither of which takes any appreciable talent. So what makes you think this mental midget can handle a full route tree?

Because we is given the chance, he makes plays running other routes.

I'm not taking issue with your claim that Bryant has made plays running other routes. Of course he has, and he should given the number of snaps he's played. But route running is one of the most difficult aspects of not just playing WR but of football period. Forgetting about the precision and other physical attributes necessary, there is so much mentally that goes into succeeding as a pass catcher both before and after the snap (e.g., coverage recognition, understanding coverage, adjusting routes to account for coverage looks, setting up routes, etc.) that it takes a technician to truly excel and be more than a one trick pony. All I'm saying is that Martavis' actions to date give me serious pause and make me question whether he will ever "get it" or whether he even has the capacity to be a complete WR.

Good points. He should STFU and play. Especially with his history.

Would have been nice if our supposedly not responsible for Xs & Os players coach was more on top of this situation.

I guess what I'm saying is... I don't think his few opportunities to run other routes has anything to do with how hard he's worked or hasn't worked on route-running. It has everything to do with that is the way we do it here. X receiver does this, Y does this, Z does this. Been that way for a while.

Coaches are trying to scheme Martavis into success. The first offensive play against the Bengals was a reverse to him for goodness sake. He gets at least a handful of designed looks per game. Bryant just needs to produce better than he has so far this season.

Reverses and screens-- all well and good... have to mix in some in breaking routes and different things so that the DB can't sit on deep ball. That's what makes deep ball so effective.

Ben told Tavis he was throwing to him on a deep ball -- very very early in the game

The play was open - it was there - the ball was thrown perfectly - Tavis just didn't turn around in time, for some reason (as if he wasn't expecting the ball)

QB's lose confidence when WRs don't make the plays they should make. Ben seemed to never look for Tavis after that.

Bottom line is if Martavis does what he was supposed to do on that route Ben referred to, none of this discussion takes place this week.

Martavis...you may have some legitimate gripes...but when you screw the pooch that bad on a route and take away your own chance away from yourself...probably should put the griping on hold for a week.

Maybe he didn't get any lovin from his girlfriend last week since he didn't back her on social media so he had to say something this week to redeem himself with her.

Ben's face when that happened said a lot more then what Ben actually said after the game about the play.
