I'm not sure if they would have suspended Bryant had this shit happened in the first couple weeks. But the braintrust identified this week as the best one to roll out JuJu in a more expanded role. And it made sitting Alien a no brainer.

I still hope they won't trade Martavis to another contender regardless of the offer. They control him for one more year for peanuts. The odds of him burning us in the playoffs are too high. But tonight I think that the torch has been passed to JuJu at WR2 on the outside. With the exception of the one drop, he really rose to the occasion. I think ten years from now we'll look back to this moment ecstatic for one of the better WR in Steeler history.

This was a big moment.

I would think they sit on Bryant the rest of the way then if they really want to, part ways in the offseason.

I thought Schuster might get caught from behind. He isn't very fast but fast enough to out run 3 DB's for that Huge, huge score. Most exciting play of the night.

There's plenty of room for both JuJu and Bryant on the field.

I'd say most exciting play of the season. Any other contenders? I can't think of any.

He's fast enough. Dude reminds me of a slightly quicker version of Anquan Boldin.

AB's TD deflection was just as critical and amazing.

We've had a couple huge plays to win a couple of games....but I still feel like we've been on the short-end of the luck stick.

Tell that to MB's girlfriend. :P

But yes, I agree. Hopefully this just motivates Bryant to work harder and be better the second half of the season.

Good call on the AB deflection. I knew I was forgetting something. But it was nice to see a huge, critical play that was sheer execution as opposed to execution + luck. 9 time out of 10 the AB deflection would have been an INT.

I have been a big supporter of JuJu but let us not get crazy here. This offense is still not scoring like it should. I watch the Cowboys and some other teams scoring over 30 points a game and they sure as shit are not going to fail repeatedly in the red zone.

It isn't about JuJu replacing Bryant. This should be a 3 WR offense and there is nothing wrong with having Brown, Bryant and JuJu being those 3 WRs, they are each in their own way prototypical, each brings a different element to the WR position, they all COMPLEMENT each other perfectly. Haley once had a trio of WRs in Arizona in 2008 that all went over 1,000 yards, Fitz, Bolden and Breaston. This is what we should try and duplicate with our trio of WRs. Having Brown with 150 catches is not the answer. Diversify and include all your weapons on offense.

We just need to get Bryant back on track somehow, this offense needs him.

With that being said, Rogers coming up small again this game, dropping a TD pass, is a problem. He just should not see the field at all, I have no confidence in him whatsoever.

JuJu is not just a possession WR, or just a slot WR, he can be a traditional outside WR, his size and physicality and ability to break tackles allows him to make long plays down the field. What would this season be like if the Steelers did not draft him in the 2nd round?

Most laughed when Bryant was being compared to Moss and TO.

I'm going to suggest that JuJu is Fitz 2.0.

Agree. This offense needs to start using all of its parts.
Getting Bryant back into this offense is step 1.
Getting TEs the ball more than once or twice a game is #2.

At this point, Rogers over Ayers is not looking good.
Ayers returning punts improves return game and he does the same things as back up slot guy as Rogers does. But probably a quicker version, which is key in fhe slot for quick completions for Ben.

Exactly. But MB has to realize and accept this. JuJu is now the starter in 2 WR sets. The Steelers play 3WR more often than not, but Bryant has to be willing to get his touches when he can and not assume that he owns the position.

JuJu is the future. Everyone, including Bryant, knows that. Bryant can make a lot of coin on his next contract (elsewhere) by being a team player and contributing in the way Tomlin wants him to.

He has to understand that throwing a tantrum will not result in him getting traded. It's his only way out.

And if he realizes this sooner rather than later, the Steelers will reap the benefits, as they should (they stood with him through his league suspension and rehab).

Love me some JuJu but we will need more than that to get to the SB.

JuJu Smith-Schuster is the youngest player in NFL history with 150 receiving yards in a game. (via @EliasSports)

Those of you that saw this will know what I mean. That play reminded me of the Phil Kessel breakaway in OT this past week.

I'm thinking for this offense to really click they have to get Gilbert healthy and back. The run game will improve vastly. Who else shit their pants when Hubbard went out last night? OLine is crucial for this offense's success.
Bryant has to come back looking for any opportunities to explode on the field. Bryant is greedy and there's nothing wrong with that. I expect WR's to be greedy. How to handle it is where Bryant needs to get better.

I like JuJu a lot, but that scouting report isn't entirely wrong.

I think one of the most important injuries we've had. He's extremely underrated, in both the passing and running games.

Agreed. But if that motivates him to make himself better, this can be more important.
