Gronk was too physical for Sean Davis. Putting TJ Watt on Gronk loses us pass rush, but put Deebo on there. At least in Red Zone or third downs. TJ has size and jumping ability too negate Gronk's size. TJ was also a tight-end a few years ago. Otherwise it looks like conversion is automatic for Brady.

Absolutely should have tried a few downs to get his feet wet.

He was not providing much in pass rush.

If anything, like you said.....
He is a long and rangy player that may shield Bradys view a little more.
Get his arms up higher on those seam passes, etc.
Be more physical at the line.

Davis was abused most of the day.

Davis is not football bright. How did he not know, the fade to Gronk was coming on the two point play?!

Dupree was utterly useless rushing the passer (except for one play). He's said to be pretty good in coverage. I would rather put dupree on him at first, move Watt to the left, and put Deebo on the right. Deebo did not play one damn snap of the game. With this much importance on a game, Solder struggling with mobility and power, Deebo could potentially have feasted on Brady. His bull rush alone would get Brady moving on almost every play. WTF! Deebo has got to be livid and ready to walk outta there with the big middle finger up. I bet he can't wait for the season to be over. I would tell Tomlin not to dress me and stay home with my family. At this point, If I were Deebo, I would fake a bad hamstring injury and do nothing! Tomlin doesn't know how to manage players - saving one player from too much work, risks burning out the other players from too much work!

incorrect...for the most part Davis made Gronk earn what he got...doesn't matter if Davis knew the play just like a lot of times doesn't matter if you double or triple cover AB. Great players make plays. Gronk does that to everyone not just Davis. Now if you want to argue why Davis is tasked to cover Gronk on his own that's a different matter

Well Davis has to also guard against the slant....which is almost impossible because of Gronk's size

Not too many people can handle Gronk 1:1 and Davis did an ok job

A couple of those throws just can't be defended. Gronk has fucking 7 foot arms.

After Davis had his worst day as a pro against Baltimore, I said to some friends they should put him on Gronk one on one. He was getting burned for mostly mental reasons, and putting him 1 on 1 would remove the mental aspect from the equation and let him just try and use his physical ability.

As others have said, I think he did fairly well at an impossible task. He was often in the right position, just couldn't defend against great throws, and Gronk doing what Gronk does.

I think our biggest issue was that Mitchell was playing too deep and giving Gronk the middle seam too often, although when you're playing one safety deep like that, I understand the reasoning of playing that far back, especially considering Mitchell doesn't have catchup speed if a guy does get behind him.
