First priority for this team is always take some clock while you’re trying to convert 1sr downs— far better chance for that strategy to work when you have best players in there. In fact, if it’s Bell and AB out there, the strategy probably works.

You can be mindful of the clock while still trying to run your offense.

There are varying levels of conservative, aggressive etc.

We literally shut down the offense and ran our stale, doesn’t fool anyone run centric up the gut O.

Were you surprised at all that we failed to put any points on the board in the 4th?

I wasn’t once it became clear we were in run run pass punt mode.

I also knew the Pats would not be shut out in the 4th.

On 2nd and 23, they were at their own 25.

That's not backed up on your own goal line.

Worse...it was with the big set and Bryant off the field.

Literally no threat of any pass.

You win with Bell, Bryant, and JuJu on the field, not Jerald Fucking Hawkins.

Outside of the final drive, Ben passed the ball ONCE on first down for the entire HALF.

One stinking holding penalty blew this staff up.

Oh noes. We are now in 1st and 20. Better play to punt....

How about three passes there and then punt if you don’t make it?

Without that hold there we likely go on to win as the offense was dictating at that point.

Next drive we throw a 3 yard pass in 3rd & 4 before punting it away.

Then another 3 yard pass to DHB from the 10 with no time outs.

We had time AFTER the overturned TD to take two shots into the EZ from the 10.

Instead we throw a pass for 3 yards with the hope the receiver can get OOB.

There are high school coaches out there with better situational awareness during games than Tomlin.

Good Lord some of you are obtuse. Rogers was WIDE THE FUCK OPEN at the goalline, and most of you wanted Ben to throw the ball away. You guys seriously sit to urinate.

And if we had kicked and Brady won the toss and we never had a chance to operate on offense you'd all be calling for Tomlin's head.

The "crime" was the uncalled penalty, not the throw. The game was fixed, obviously.

Meh - I am over this loss. We had plenty of chances to win the game on both sides of the ball before the JuJu miracle run and fucked up ending.

Bottom line is this team must beat NE in NE in the playoffs on the way to another championship.. It’s a win that nust happen anyways ifor the organization f Art2 wants to secure the team’s legacy. The Steelers can’t be owned like this and be looked at seriously anymore.

And I don’t want to hear anymore pussy babbling about the Patriots losing to somebody else- bullshit. Nobody else needs to do our dirty work. Beat them in NE in the Offs - end ithis shit.

Pass to DHB at the 7 is all on Ben...DHB was not the primary read.

That DHB and not Bryant was out there is on the coaches. Stupid.

So the NFL front office told Mike Tomlin to coach the 4th Quarter like a dumbshit so the refs would have the change to steal the game from us?

OK...

id like to see an all 22 on this play, I have a feeling there weren't a lot of options for Ben, not that that makes taking the DHB option any good, if he was the only option an incomplete pass would have been way better obviously

Haven't seen that, 22, but watched again and again. Patriots send 6 rushers, vs. 5 Steeler blockers and had almost immediate pressure on Ben, flushing him out left. Both JuJu and Bell were that side of the field, covered. James, lined up tight left, ran straight ahead. Eli, on the right, delayed his pattern, then was somewhere around the right flat, can't really tell where he was until he comes back in to the picture to line up for 3rd down.

The rusher on the far right comes in unimpeded. In hindsight, had Leveon picked him up instead of going upfield into the pattern, then perhaps Ben has more options...remaining five rushers were picked up effectively.

Looks like Ben's only options really were DHB or throw it away, the latter, again in hindsight, being the better choice.
