NEVER turn back inside towards the pursuit unless you absolutely have to. Still a great play though.

Theoretical query

What if Juju does stay on the sidelines and the Patriot Defender finally catches him and hits him just after he crosses the goal Line the ball comes loose although JuJu's hands are underneath the ball. There is no conclusive proof that the ball hit the ground and was out of his control. What does New York and correnti do on that?

Since JuJu was an established runner at that point, it’s a TD as soon as the football breaks the plane.

It wouldn’t even be an issue.

.

I really struggle to see why this is so confusing. If you’re going to the ground in the process of making the catch, you’ve got to control it through going to the ground regardless of where you’re at on the field. If you’ve established yourself as a runner, you’re good.

here's another angle.....if PIT ends-up going to NE for the AFCC, how much money does that cost Rooney (and, for that matter, the city of Pittsburgh)?

The NFL didn't just steal a game from PIT, they literally took money out of the pockets of hometown fans.

So when the refs picked up their flag on the Rogers TD, which should have been ruled a penalty for illegal man downfield as Decastro was clearly more than a yard beyond the LOS before the pass was thrown and they had initially correctly thrown the flag for it, what part of the grand sweeping conspiracy for a Pats win was that? Which chapter in the script?

I’m embarrassed by the amount of whining and excuse making Steelers fans have taken part in after this game.

Do you clowns even know the rules.
Item 1: Legally Downfield.

An ineligible player is not illegally downfield if, after initiating contact with an opponent within one yard of the line of scrimmage during his initial charge:

(a) he moves more than one yard beyond the line while legally blocking or being blocked by an opponent;
DeCastro was blocking an opponent the entire time and thus not illegally downfield. That is why the flag was picked up.

That'd be correct, but DeCastro wasn't blocking his man downfield the entire time. That's dead wrong. Watch the vid:

LOS was the 18. He made an initial punch on one defender, slipped out and moved three yards downfield to the 15 to initiate a block on another defender, the LB David Harris, all while Ben still had the ball in his hands. Should've been a penalty.

Honestly...I know everyone's saying it's clear DPI. I'm not seeing it.

Like Jeems had said, like I've said in the SBI piece....soon as I saw one of the first replays, I knew this game was being stolen from us. Just don't know why it took the announcing crew so long to tumble to the fact that it was the catch that was being reviewed. Me? I was foolishly hoping no one would notice. But...I still think a case could have been made for their not being indisputable evidence that JJ maintained control.

I think at minimum he gets as far as he did cutting back in, with the added benefit of going OOB and preserving the timeout.

Speaking of which...Ben pointing out that Corrente granted them the timeout before they really asked for it casts a bad light on the Steelers and clock management again.

They should have known immediately they were calling timeout. Far too much clock would have been burned trying to rush down the field and clock it. Not to mention a down to win the game would have been wasted. They were at the ten...using the last TO was the right thing to do there. Had they not been such idiots with their playcalling, 32 seconds and no timeouts from the ten is plenty of time for three shots to the EZ and then a FG try if needed.

nitpicking on JuJu's OUTSTANDING play is beyond ridiculous. It really displays very little awareness of what it's like to actually play the game. Ask DeAngelo Williams.

So I’m not allowed to voice an opinion that I think JuJu could have scored had he stayed on the sideline?

That somehow pointing this out means I’m saying he sucked on the play?

Particularly after watching the Tunch piece, Jeems, I don't think JuJu even makes it to the sideline. He was running outta gas, pursuit was closing in.

He was on the sideline already.

Watch it again, Jeems. The ONLY time, he was all outside the hash was when he was being tackled....over 23 yards from the sideline.

Unless you're suggesting that he should have never cut back across the field but stuck to the left sideline the whole way. I've been assuming you were talking about the right sideline.

Okay...You ARE talking about the left sideline.

#30 & #23 are closing in; he has JJ blocking for him. He's going OOB at the 20.

Yes...I’m saying he should have never cut back across the field but stayed on the sideline.

He had Jesse out in front of him who had cut off one of the two closing defenders. The other one had the angle but he stutter-stepped...BEFORE JuJu made his cut to the middle.

He stays on the sideline...he may get by that defender...even if not, he’s at or near where he got to anyway...but has run OOB and killed the clock.

I posted about this earlier. At 3:54 JuJu is at the 34 with James in front of him. I think he is better off staying on the sideline behind JJ and stiff arming the other DB and going OOB at the 15 or 10 and possibly scoring than running all the way across the field, into traffic and getting tackled at the 10. Would save a TO and have a better chance to score

Again...I think he may get a little more and even get by the guy because that guy stutter-stepped.

The trailing defender’s angle is cut off by Jesse...there’s just one guy to beat.

And you know something?

I’ll take OOB at the 20 and a timeout preserved over ball at the 10 and no timeouts. I thinkmit’s A slight win. We do better farther from the EZ anyway.

Yeah...split-second decision-making and instinct though.

I know...experience will teach him.

He’s going to be a great player.
