I know there were the reports of Artie Burns getting 2nd team reps, Sutton getting first team reps, some even going as far as saying maybe they would bench Burns.

Whatever. To me all of that may have been a way for the Steelers to move around and get players lined up and comfortable in different roles on defense.

For example, this season they did not flip their CBs. Burns stayed on his side of the field, and Haden on his side. They did not have a CB who would shadow the other team's best WR. Yet, that is exactly what they did this game. Joe Haden, in a really tough matchup against Hopkins in his first game back from injury, lined up and followed Hopkins regardless of where he lined up.

That is new. That is what was needed, what was missing from this defense. We haven't had a CB who can do that since Ike Taylor.

Sure, what the Texans had out there at QB was well below the line, but I love that the team was comfortable enough in flipping their CBs.

Two weeks in a row and we see things that have gone against the grain in the secondary. Last week playing man to man 65% of the time and now this week flipping CBs and using Haden to matchup and follow the opposing teams best weapon. It makes me wonder what other things they may have under wraps. Very unusual.

Also, you see things on offense that are starting to come together. Vance McDonald. Wow, if he can stay healthy I can't help but feel that they have plays, an entire subset of an offense ready that takes advantage of his talent. It really may be possible that they were keeping things under wraps, waiting until playoff time, as hard as that is to believe. But these last two games are making me a believer.

Fantastic defensive play, particularly in the secondary. Almost cost me my fantasy semi-finals it was so good. I thought Hopkins was a sure bet to go off with our secondary. Hats off.

Mike Hilton might be the best tackler on the team.

The kid is just fantastic.

Shoulda made the Pro Bowl.

Haden being back changes everything.

They need to end the Sean Spence experiment. He is horrible and is going to be a huge liability in the playoffs.

And replace him with who exactly. Dirty Red and Fort both suck just as bad.

Hilton is unbelievable to me. I mean there’s like 100 things to think about every play and it always looks like Hilton just does his job. He’s not intimidated by anyone or anything. Amazing find.

I’m glad Artie burns responded in positive ways with the lead up stories. Burns has the tools and talent no doubt. Haden is the lynchpin in the secondary. He gives the D a confidence that probably only otherwise comes from heyward and shaz. When reports said some unnamed vet was fired up about the Haden my bet was it was heyward. Cam knows the D backfield needed that presence.

Steelers give up 70 more passing yards a game without Haden and 1 more TD per game.

I believe it. Haden is just wonderful to watch out there.

Hope there's some way we can keep him after this season.

I think that Haden being out of the Pats game was a blessing in disguise. The Steelers secondary eliminated all their receiving threats except Gronk. I can see the Steelers knowing that Sutton and Haden have the lockdown outside and Hilton has the slot locked down- I can see them moving Burns to Gronk either providing help or pass off coverage from Davis. Davis was lost out there singled up. Anyone else on this team is either too short or too slow to cover him.
