This does bring up an interesting point . . . which is that the MLB position, long considered less important than edge, cb, safety, etc. is looking more and more vital. Look at Cowboys, Panthers and Steelers without their stud ILB. Totally different teams.

Same is happening with RB position. Long considered an afterthought, we're seeing elite RB's big huge factors for playoff teams.

While obviously not as important as QB, you could easily argue that a top 5 back (Bell, Gurley, etc.) has more value than a top 5 WR.

Why does it feel like everyone thinks this is an attack on Ju Ju or his skills. Ju Ju is awesome. The point is it would be better for the team if we had the equivalent awesome IMLB!

If you can pull it off I can’t see how anyone on this board could argue with it. If they traded Ju Ju to an up and coming QB’s offense and got an all-pro IMLB; would you argue with that?

I think a GM worth his salt could pull it off.

My apologies. I didn't comment trying to insult you or this thread. I did ask what ILB from an up and coming team would you shoot for?

I think everyone got your point, we just disagree with it. A No.2 WR is a necessity, and JuJu is just we've been missing. Would you trade a Hines Ward / Anquan Boldin mix for a MLB? I wouldn't. I'd rather wait for the Dolphins to cut Timmons and re-sign him while taking an ILB in the first 3 rounds of the draft.

Agree. JuJu is a special player. They don't grow on treees. We'll find a ILB.

Didn’t some of our resident draft experts question the JuJu pick?

Still interested in this ILB from an up and coming team that would be worth considering trading for.

Luke Keuchly. I bet the Panthers would bite to get Cam a star WR. LK has some miles on him and has a few injuries, but aI bet you could get him.

Isn't Luke Keuchly one concussion away from retirement?

Based on age, and effective years left, no fucking way.

26 years old! He still has 6-7 years of mileage on him.

Luke Keuchly is dangerously close to having to retire because of those recurring concussions. He has missed 10 games the past 3 seasons because of them.

His next concussion could be the one that does him in literally.

Also, who wants to take on the remainder of a $61 million contract with a player with a history of concussions? We tried that once with a TE named Ladarius Green and how well did that work out?

There really are no ILBs to trade for that A, don't have an injury history, and B, have huge contracts that you would inherit. Yes, if Shazier hadn't gotten hurt they would have made him the next highest paid ILB, but in typical Steeler fashion, his first few years would have been very low and then ramped up in the latter portions of his contract.

JuJu is a bonafide star, a unique, distinctive talent, who if anything makes Bryant the one that you would trade away.

We just need to get better at drafting defense, especially LBers.

Other teams find gems on D and work them right in. We’ll have to start doing that as well.

Why do we need to trade any receiver? With Brown, Bryant, and JuJu we have the best WR corps in the NFL. 70% of our plays should be run out of 3WR sets. Brown and Juju can alternate the slot. Even with Bell — who should be franchised next year again — there should be more than enough balls to go around to keep everyone happy. Think 9 targets for Brown; 7 targets for Bryant/Juju; 7 targets for Bell; and 5 targets for TEs. That’s 35 targets a week.

If Ben comes back, target ILB / safety early + QB if stud falls. If Ben retires, go after Cousins.

Obviously I wouldn't trade Juju for an ILB, but man, I'd love to have someone like Telvin Smith with that tackling and speed in the middle of our D.
