It actually came down to Washington and Penn State, and the committee (publicly) said it was a "challenging conversation", but in the end they believed the Huskies were the better team.

Ohio State becomes the first non-conference winner to make the playoff.

Oh well...

I think Penn State should have gone over Washington. Just on strength of schedule.

I'm not sure the Rose Bowl isn't a better option for Penn State. Nice to be invited to the dance, for sure, but the prize, at this point, is a Nick Saban Alabama team with a month to prep for yours. I think I'd rather head to the coast to play USC.

I know it was earlier in the season, but Penn State could hardly move the ball against Michigan. I shudder to think what they'd have looked like against Bama's D.

Pabst, new offensive coordinater. It took PSU half the season to getting clicking in the new offense. Michigan game might as well have been last season. Not to mention they were pulling guys out of the stands to play ILB. That being said, had I been on the committee I would have chosen Washington too.

You can't ignore two losses. You just can't when compared to a 1 loss conference champion. Would Florida have deserved a spot with an upset win over Bama? Where does it end?

With two losses you should be grateful/stunned to even be in the conversation.

If Washington beats Alabama in a close one i think the committee will still put Alabama through to the final. Better ROS, PIS, and they pass the eye test. Now if Washington can win by a TD or more they will probably get the nod to play in the final.

I see what you did there.
