Go with me here....

Ever heard of the rule of 370? When a back gets 370+ rushes or 400+ touches in a season he historically goes to shit the next year. Including playoffs, Bell had 326 carries and 79 catches in just 15 games (405 total touches in less than a season). He hasn't shown he can stay healthy through the playoffs yet and has a groin tear of some sort right now. Plus he was running around with Snoop this week. His stock after the season is through the roof and this is a very good RB class. With all of that noted, I just franchised and traded Bell for a mid/late 1st rounder. Frees up cap space and he is at a position with a short shelf life.

Furthermore, we've all seen the blueprint to beat elite QBs, especially Brady and Rodgers. Press their receivers, throw off timing, and allow your pass rush an extra second to get home. With Ben winding down his career, the time is now. I back up the Brinks truck to Melvin Ingram, even if that means forcing Harrison into retirement. I cut DHB, Moats, Green, Harris, and Gay. That saved me $9 million which I used to pay Ingram. Also extended Brown and Tuitt, brought back Timmons on a fair 2-year deal. Now here is my draft:

1. David Njoku, TE, Miami
What if I told you there are two TE's in this draft that will be the two best in the NFL within 3 years? Njoku is the second of those guys and most likely to be available mid/late round 1.

1b. Sidney Jones, CB, Washington
Very good man cover corner with excellent speed and athleticism. Being overlooked in the draft discussions for corners right now.

2. Buddah Baker, FS/Nickle CB, Washington
Baker is a less physical Honey Badger. Very aggressive cover man who can line up in man on a slot receiver or play the deep safety role. He's a chess piece for the secondary.

3. Joe Mixon, RB, Oklahoma
He's the 3rd or 4th best RB in this class and has every tool you want as a runner and receiver for the modern NFL game. His draft stock will be dinged due to NFL owners conspiring to keep players who had past violence against women caught on camera out of the league. Mixon isn't a bad kid, he is a very good player. I draft him at this spot with no reservations.

4. Lorenzo Jerome, S, St Francis
All he did in two bowl games was force 5 turnovers including 4 picks. He can play either safety spot and upgrades talent on ST's.

5. Devonte Fields, OLB, Louisville
Supremely talented knucklehead pass rusher. Worth the risk here.

5c Ejuan Price, OLB, Pitt
Supremely talented old/injury prone pass rusher. Worth the risk here. Serious depth at the position behind Dupree and Ingram.

6. Elijah McGuire, RB, Rajun Cajuns
You need two good backs now that both are threats in the passing game. This backfield minus the dearly departed Le'Veon Bell is more like the Falcons. Kill you with two good backs instead of wearing down one great one.

7. Shelton Gibson, WR, WVU
Speedy receiver and return man

I think at has the makings of a superb draft. We can quibble about which edge rusher, which FB, which RB, which safety-- there are many. Your haul is pretty great.

Wow, that's crazy

Nice haul though, all very talented. Not a fan of Fields though, and I'm not talking about his off the field issues. He's soft.

I too like the out of the box thinking. If Martavis coming back I think I keep Bell. Give the killer B's one last shot together.
Even with Bell still on roster I'd still draft Joe Mixon. Kid's a stud.
If Melvin Ingram signed and Martavis comes back and stays back. Those two moves alone more than enough to take out Patriots and win a Super Bowl. Build key depth through draft.

I Like the draft Perch.

Traded the 2018 1st RND pick to Detroit for the 21st overall pick. Baker was gone by the early 2nd RND so I took Maye. Fields was gone mid 3rd RND so I took Sickels. Price was gone early 4th RND so I took Bell. McGuire was gone early 5th RND so I took Smith.

Your score is: 7390 (GRADE: D-)

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 21 (DET): Sidney Jones, CB, Washington (B+)
Round 1 Pick 30: David Njoku, TE, Miami (Fla.) (A-)
Round 2 Pick 30: Marcus Maye, FS, Florida (B)
Round 3 Pick 30: Joe Mixon, RB, Oklahoma (A+)
Round 4 Pick 29: Lorenzo Jerome, SS, Saint Francis (PA) (B+)
Round 5 Pick 29: Garrett Sickels, DE, Penn State (D)
Round 5 Pick 36: Brandon Bell, OLB, Penn State (D+)
Round 6 Pick 29: DeVeon Smith, RB, Michigan (B)
Round 7 Pick 30: Shelton Gibson, WR, West Virginia (A+)

Since its a pissed off thread

David Njoku is going to struggle with the 1st thing at the combine

Height and weight

He will be under 235
He will measure under 6-4
His arms are very very long
I know he will jump out of the building
I expect he runs around a 4.55

He is a legit threat in the passing game...I get that. At this point he is a big slot. He really struggled in the run game to block defensive ends/ big outside linebackers. He could grow into that body and be an effective run blocker at the point. He could be very similar to Evan Ingram from Ole Miss.

Njoku is one of the most risky picks in this draft in a way.

His hands are not elite.
His route running is good....Not very good
The elite potential lies in his ability to be a receiver
He really needs to clean things up as a receiver

Film shows an elite athlete...Film showed Devin Funchess to be a pretty good athlete as well.

Trust me I hate Teke McKinley from UCLA far more

If the Steelers do not move down...IMO no chance they draft a tight end unless a superstar falls

Thing about Njoku is, there are four things he can do, two of them at an elite level:
1. angle/screen block the edge (pretty good)
2. get down the seam, even from the slot (very good)
3. get to outside CBs and Safeties in the screen blocking game (excellent)
3. run after the catch (will be the best TE in the league at this skill within a year)

That means he fits Todd Haley's style of play to a T.

I have no idea how he'll measure or time-- but I'm going to guess he jumps out of the gym. Also, I know one measurement he'll have going for him: one of the youngest players in the draft.

Njoku is a well above average athlete for the TE position. I would say the same about his route running and hands. I was concerned about his blocking, but after watching a bunch of his tape I can say he is a surprisingly good pass blocker. Run blocking, he more or less gets in the way instead of driving people out. Not a major issue all things considered.
