NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala reports Steelers GM Kevin Colbert would "love" to land Michigan LB/S Jabrill Peppers at No. 30 overall.
Per Kinkhabwala, the Steelers plan to take the best available player, whether it's a quarterback or cornerback. Peppers might be a pipe dream at No. 30, as there's a chance he's long gone at that point. Ben Roethlisberger has also been lobbying for the team to select a tight end, so the Steelers could go a number of ways on Day 1.

Part of this year's vaunted tight end group, Miami (FL) TE David Njoku is No. 14 overall on Josh Norris' big board. Even before Big Ben's words, Norris wrote he couldn't see Njoku slipping past Pittsburgh. The Steelers lacked weapons beyond world-beaters Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell last season, and Ladarius Green was a mega-bust at tight end. Roethlisberger heavily targeted Heath Miller for years, and likes a true seam threat. Njoku is an elite athlete.

I'd tell Ben that there are still going to be some really good TEs in play in Rounds 2/3. Probably takes Butt off the board if they want someone to come in from Day 1 and make a difference.

I really, really dislike Peppers. I just don't see it, we took a guy just like him last year in Sean Davis. We need someone with more range and experience at the position in my opinion.

Tell Ben that defense wins championships and get him a good TE in the 3rd,

I'll bet you there are at least three day 3 TEs in this draft as good as anyone the Steelers draft in rds 2 or 3.
