https://sports.yahoo.com/poor-attendance-los-angeles-chargers-preseason-games-concern-142811977.html

Quote:
Capacity in the stadium is about 27,000 and the Chargers aren’t hitting 80 percent of that so far....That the Chargers aren’t even pulling in bigger crowds than Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy, when the novelty for any Chargers game should be fresh, isn’t a good sign.

This will be an interesting situation to watch. If the Chargers (and Rams) both keep up with their poor attendance figures, heads should start rolling. I can't wait.

Edit: Just noticed this was in the wrong forum. Sorry about that

I'm thinking I can get some cheap tickets, although my flag football league plays sunday a.m. If I can time it right, both the Coliseum and StubHub are a short train ride away.

Offensively, they are going to be a fun team to watch.

They could be a good defense to watch as well, they have a lot of young guys and they were close to the leading the league in takeaways last year.

I think the Chargers are going to struggle to win 8 games this year.

Yep...I agree. Been debating this with B2B on Twitter. I think they are a 9-7 or 10-6 team this year. One of the better corner duos in the league in Verrett and Hayward. Good young LBs, and Joey Bosa.

Offensively, they can hang with any team in the league. They are loaded with pass catchers.

The Chargers biggest problem is they are in the AFC West. Four good teams in that division. Four good defenses. Two good QBS

True, but neither Denver or KC are better this year. I think the Chargers did improve, although they fucked up royally not taking McCaffrey with their first round pick. Denver will be offensively challenged with Trevor Simien and KC is relying on a rookie RB (albeit a good one, Go Rockets) and a sub-par WR corps. Tyreek Hill has looked like shit without Maclin next to him this preseason. Oakland will win the division, but the Chargers could easily be in the wildcard hunt.

If you play FF, I would be loading up on Phil Rivers/Keenan Allen stacks this year. They are both going to have huge years.

Keenan Allen is 50/50 to make it through half the year
Denver's defense and KC's defense will shut down the Chargers
no home field advantage-- they'll be playing before a mausoleum
injury bug already hitting SD
Hunter Henry is a fraud
LAC finds a way to lose close games-- bad trait

Hater...

We'll continue this debate throughout the season

I'll say this: the LAC are the most balanced team in their division. Both Offense and Defense are decent. The other three teams are seriously lopsided.

However.

SD plays two defenses that are going to shut or slow its offense down and one offense that's going to light them up. That's 6 tough games, with no homefield advantage within division.

Wow. Apparently the paid attendance for the Rams/Colts game was around 61,000 and even less than that actually showed up. That $2.6B stadium looks like a great idea

From the 1st home game.

Quote:
A stadium that seats 27,000 couldn’t sell out, drawing an officially (generously) announced crowd of 25,381 for a 19-17 loss to the Dolphins. Making that attendance figure even sadder is that half of paying fans weren’t there to see the Chargers. “There were a lot of Miami fans out there,” Melvin Gordon said. “I think it was around 50-50.”

0-2..

Could have won both games if not for kicking issues.

As I said, they've developed an incredible knack for losing close games. 2-11 in games decided by 4 points or less since beginning of 2015.

USC/Texas drew about 3,000 more fans than the Chargers & Rams combined.

If the Chargers can't sell out their 1st home game in a tiny stadium they're screwed.

Also, that doesn't account for no-shows, of which there were many. The stadium was roughly half empty at the start.

Disappointing, they are a fun team to watch. Always enjoy when they are a late game after the Steelers have already played.

I appear to have been wrong about several things regarding this year's NFL. Jared Goff is holding it together, Dalvin Cook looked great before his torn ACL, the Raiders have problems... but I nailed the freaking Chargers.

2 three point losses and a 2 pointer. Team can't seal the deal. Rivers to Allen in FF is winning me some money though.

that is a hell of a number btw, Steelers 8-2 in that time frame, 6-0 since Cincy playoff game.

Starting to play like I thought they would. If not for 2 botched FGs, this could be a 5-2 team right now.
