I haven't watched pirate baseball since the 90's debacle (I had just recently moved to NYC and was watching with my brother. We actually called a life long friend in pgh to get us playoff tickets during game time, when it happened). Actually, l only watched peripherally Yankees baseball since the 90's. So I haven't been able to see Cutch really play other than highlights.

Now I get to see him with the yanks sans hair whenever I'm bored with nothing to do when they air games. Yay?

My phone stopped notifying me with final score a few weeks ago. Most likely some update happened and I need to turn them back on but I like to think my phone just said fuck it. It is a smartphone.

They really are a poorly run team. I wish Cuban had been able to buy the team and make it a destination for players rather than a developmental squad for other teams to pick players up from.

5 games back in the loss column.

They have a better chance of finishing over .500 than win a wild card slot though...unless Hurdle has another 2007 innhim.

Glad you said "almost assured." They're only two games over .500 now.

I’m hoping we manage to be eliminated after the Phillies are.

13-4 Brewers in the 8th.

I believe that’s all she wrote for postseason if we lose today, but four more wins in the last eight clinches a winning season.

Being above .500 matters very much 8-)

Had a chance to shake the hand of Trevor Williams dad last night down at the yard. A true gentleman and so cool to see the smile on his face while watching his son absolutely dealing yet again.

We have the young arms in place to make a run at things again in 19.

Trevor Williams has been the best pitcher in baseball the last half of the season.
Nutting and Huntington are salivating over the prospect haul return they’ll get in the trade...

Lol. To be this senile. Ironzabo is the original steel but rarely posts here, so this is a rare treat.

Being .500 just about matters as much as tits on a bull. Who gives a shit.

Making a run "at things," eh? What is the "at things" here? Fourth place in the division and 8 games out of a wild card spot?

Maybe they'll make another run at book-ending their season with wins against bottom feeders to artificially inflate their record again?

Chris Archer will make about 30 runs at trying to get to the 6th inning.

How about they make a run at a cleanup hitter, something they've lacked since... hmmm...2001 Aramis Ramirez? Oh, and then not too much later Chicago "made a run" at him.

Something tells me they'll make a run at getting rid of Josh Harrison's contract.
Something tells me they'll make a run at some over-the-hill, random middle infielder making $2 million to replace Harrison. So, let's just say Jose Reyes. They'll grab him and overpay some random reliever to "solidfy" things. Sounds like a great offseason.

Well, in the wake of a (not) surprising Little League-style loss as the Buccos wrapped up the home season yesterday, at least this one ray of sunshine, from the Trib:
Quote:
The Pirates ended the season with a total attendance of 1,465,316 in 78 dates, the smallest overall turnout since PNC Park opened in 2001 and the lowest for the franchise since 1996.

Pirate fans finally voting "no" with their wallets on Nutting's endless shite-show of money-grubbing mediocrity??

The Pirates/Marlins make-up game scheduled for Monday has been canceled, as it is meaningless.

Therefore the Buccos will only play 161 games this year and thus only have to win two of their last six games to finish above .500 and end their streak of losing seasons..somewhat earlier than the last streak of 20 seasons...at two.

8-)

And is the lowest since 1996. Good. Fuck Nutting. Hope it's lower next year if he continues his cheap ways (and he will).
