Watched every minute of that beauty. I have to mention(since no one else did) that that was the best Murray has ever played as a Pen, at least during the regular season. He was outrageously good.

The goal did nothing but A. give Murray’s teammates something to rib him about and B. make James Neal frustrated (he was absolutely robbed at least three times earlier in the game on fantastic plays and then whiffs on the puck and it knuckles in).

Considering that his teammates were dropping dimes all over the place you would expect more defensive breakdowns with a ridiculous lead but yeah he was very good.
I think he was just as good the other night in Toronto. In Edmonton, not so much.

Is it absurd to think that this year's edition of the Pens might end up being the best of the Crosby era?

Even the defensemen that no one loves as a group... Letang of old, Schultz (eventually) Dumolin, Oleksiak is playing great hockey, Riikola looks like he's going to be a staple of the lineup for the next 10 years... even Maata is playing smarter hockey (when he isn't overexposed against speed) & Ruhweedel is a decent #7.

Both goaltenders have played brilliantly at times. The team can field 3 great lines every night, sometimes 4. Power play is legit 2 deep. Coaching is as good as ever. Special teams is excellent, again.

Sure, they can fail to live up to all that promise, and injuries can suck the life out of them... but potentially this team can be legend.
