Does Greiss get the start? Would think so.

Zetterberg is healthy which isn't good for the Pens.

Detroit's PP has sucked to this point, lets keep it that way.

That was a nice little move by Kronwall, don't know why Scuderi wasn't trying to clear out the screen.

Because Scuderi stinks.

I'll take 2-1

Pens were turning the puck over a bit in the last 10 minutes of the 1st period. The transition to the new system is apparent. Making some awkward passes in attempt to maintain possession. But at least the forwards are hustling back to help out tonight.

I like the way Griess handles the puck. Very conservative, but with a real nice poke at the 14:30 mark or so of the 2nd. He's better than MAF at that. Spaling is proving to be a nice pickup, doing some nice things out there.

Two nice PK's in the 2nd. 11 straight kills. A nice turnaround from the first few games.

Can't believe Sid couldn't bury that breakaway at full speed right out of the box! Another nice PK though. Griess playing really well tonight.

Sid struggles at breakaways so I am not surprised with that or the dumb penalty he took but he along with rest of team have looked very solid tonight

You gotta be kidding me.

I still can't believe the Pens gave up that 2nd goal. Dekeyser had the nice pass to Hank, but you could've driven two semis through the hole our D left open for him to skate through uncontested right in on Griess.

And that tying goal in the last minute.........Jesus.

Wow, can't blame this one on coaching or goaltending

Fuck. Shitty way to lose it. Team was Jeckyll and Hyde tonight. Did some things really well, did some other things really fucked. This one's not on Griess IMO. He got hung out to dry on 2 of those. Scuderi let him be completely screened on a 3rd. The tying goal of the Datsyuk pass to Kronwall was just tough to defend.

Well, that was disappointing. Scuderi again stands out, but the forwards really need to pick up the intensity on the back check. I'll be really interested to see what this system looks like once these guys lose some of the Bylsma laziness and buy in.

Thought Dupuis should've held that puck instead of forcing it toward the empty net. Skate or pass it back into our zone, if need be. Used to see that all the time, even on a PP. Forcing shit thats just not there has got to stop.

maybe ownership needs to CHANGE THE FUCKING ROSTER as well as changing the coaching staff and front office

this team will get bounced early from playoffs again, if they make it this year

book it

They bounced quite a few mainstays. If you're pulling for getting rid of 1 of the 2 best players in the world, I can't get behind that. Unless it was a kings ransom.

My 2 cents.

1. This team imploded in the last 4 minutes against Dallas and Detroit. It cost them 1 point tonight and 1 or 2 vs. Dallas. The team doesn't implode in those two contests and we're looking @ 5 regulation wins and 10 points. As it is this team still has 7 points.

2. I defer to those more knowledgeable than I about Crosby's and Malkin's contracts, but I believe they are no-trade deals. Of course, if the crap were to really smell I'm guessing they'd wave those clauses (assuming they exist) for new scenery. Crosby won't be traded because he's the face of the franchise, literally and figuratively, as well as Mario's adopted son. Geno would be the odd-man out, IMHO, if it ever came down to it.

3. It's EARLY in the REGULAR season. This team will win about 5 in a row sooner rather than later and these last two games will be forgotten. HOWEVER, I do understand the concern about playoff hockey. Meanwhile, the Discoitis that remains will have to run its course, and it will, or heads will indeed roll. If anything, what's happening is good because it's exposing the weaknesses so the fans and management won't buy into fool's gold.

4. Realistically, this is a team that can reach the final 4, and maybe get to the Cup Finals depending on how the playoff dominoes fall, but the West is still stacked. It would take a goalie like the Rangers have who could steal a series to beat Chicago or LA, and likely 1 or 2 others. MAF ain't that guy. If anything, this team needs to find his LT replacement, IMHO. Unfortunately, noise was being made during the Flyers game intermission that Rutherford said MAF will be his goalie as long as JR is GM. If that's the case we likely be fucked anyway.

Wow, blow two leads in a week and the talk gets crazy.
Normally it takes maybe 10 games to get a handle on a team.

Thankfully they skated away with a point last night, but it was alarming to see that they couldn't hold another lead. Different goalies as well. I think that might be a focus going forward.

As far as trading Malkin or Crosby, just dream on.
Crosby isn't going anywhere(especially with Mario running things) unless the kid wants out. No indications of that, nary a one.
Malkin might be tempting to those who react irrationally when things are not smooth.
He isn't going anywhere anytime soon either. Though his leverage(KHL) is probably greater than his captains.

Like Bling said, it is only October. The team is healthy and there is an abundance of D men, but there are holes as well.

Let us see where this campaign is in January before we start in with the negative narrative.

For those who wanted Blysma out, which was most, you can't also complain about a slowish start. This is a team that needs reprogrammed badly, and it's not going to happen overnight.

I would accept a sub .500 October. Johnston says everything is to build towards the playoffs. Let's see how it unfolds. No reason not to trust him yet.

Besides, last nights loss is 100% on the players. Not sure when they will realize that coasting won't cut it, because we have given up so many two goal leads its mind blowing. Martin has mailed it in. The time to move him is now - even if it's for futures that you can turn around and package for a winger at the deadline.
