At PNC Park
Game time: 1:35PM ET
Probable starters:
PHI: Vince Velasquez (8-2, 3.15 ERA)
PIT: Jameson Taillon (2-1, 3.44 ERA)

Quote:
The Phillies-Pirates weekend series at PNC Park has been a showcase for talented young arms. It wraps up Sunday with a matchup of two more under-25 possible future aces.

Pittsburgh's Jameson Taillon (2-1, 3.44 ERA), a former No. 2 overall Draft pick making his seventh career start, will face Philadelphia's Vince Velasquez (8-2, 3.15), who's among the National League leaders in winning percentage during his first full season in the Majors.

Each of the six starting pitchers in this weekend series has been 25 or younger, and only Gerrit Cole -- the Bucs' starter Friday -- had more than a year's worth of big league service time. Three were top seven overall Draft picks, and five were at least once ranked among the top 100 prospects in the game by MLB.com.

Velasquez, the Phillies' key return from the Astros in the Ken Giles trade, has won his last three decisions and is coming off a no-decision in which he scattered three hits over seven innings of one-run ball.

Things to know about this game
• Taillon is making his first start since he was struck in the back of the head by a line drive early in Tuesday's win against the Brewers. Taillon stayed in the game and passed all concussion protocol in ensuing days. Tuesday marked Taillon's first start since coming off the disabled list because of shoulder fatigue.

• The Pirates were 19-4 at home against National League East opponents before dropping the series opener Friday. The Phillies, conversely, came into the series 8-15 against the NL Central, by far its worst record versus any division.

• The Phils entered having been swept in their previous two series at PNC Park over the past two seasons, and with a 17-30 record at the 16-year-old ballpark overall.

My notes:
- Taillon is my favorite of the three wunderkind pitchers up now. I don't know why, he just is.
- Here's hoping that bats stay alive. Gonna be tough with Velasquez on the mound for the Phils. He's having a great year so far.
- Phuck the Phillies!

BEAT 'EM BUCS!!!

Love Frazier, great energy. He sort of reminds me of John Cangelosi.

great call on Cangelosi - absolutely loved that guy - always wanted to see what that guy could have done with 500 AB's - great OBP!

Well looking at Cangelosi's career stats, he didn't fair very well when he had 500+ plate appeances in 1986. I'm thinking Frazier, like Cangelosi, makes a great "super sub" type. Pinch hit and run, and defensive replacement, with a spot start here and there.

The 5ft 8 inches of Cangelosi is a lot more accurate than the laughable 5'10 Frazier is listed at. If he's 5'10 , I have a 12 inch cock.
