At Miller Park
Game time: 2:10PM ET
Probable starters:
PIT: Francisco Liriano (6-10, 5.38 ERA)
MIL: Matt Garza (1-4, 5.74 ERA)

Quote:
The Pirates and Brewers will meet at Miller Park on Sunday afternoon to wrap up their three-game series and begin moving on after a pair of significant trades.

Late Saturday night, the Brewers reportedly agreed to a deal that will end catcher Jonathan Lucroy's 10-year tenure in Milwaukee's organization, sending him to the Indians ahead of Monday's 4 p.m. ET non-waiver Trade Deadline.

Hours before the Brewers' 5-3 win on Saturday, the Pirates shipped closer Mark Melancon to the Nationals in exchange for prospect Taylor Hearn and setup man Felipe Rivero, who is expected to arrive in Milwaukee in time for Sunday's game.

Lucroy, hitting .300/.360/.484 with 13 homers and 50 RBIs, did not start Saturday night amid the trade speculation. If Lucroy is still on the team Sunday, and a trade is still on the table, it's highly unlikely he'll be in the lineup to catch right-hander Matt Garza (1-4, 5.74 ERA).

Garza will start opposite Pirates lefty Francisco Liriano, looking to repeat the success he had in his last start against the Brewers, not the struggles he experienced Tuesday against the Mariners. Liriano struck out 13 without a walk on July 21 but followed up that gem by allowing seven runs in 3 1/3 innings.

Things to know about this game
• Brewers shortstop Jonathan Villar furthered his stolen-base lead over Pirates left fielder Starling Marte on Saturday, swiping his 38th to gain a two-steal advantage on Marte, his friendly rival. After stealing second, Villar looked out to left field and pointed two fingers toward Marte.

• Backup catcher Eric Fryer is hitting .304 (7-for-23) with a pair of doubles and five RBIs in seven starts behind the plate with the Pirates. Fryer may get the start Sunday in place of Francisco Cervelli, who returned Saturday after leaving Friday's game early with a sore right foot.

• Garza is 0-4 with a 7.52 ERA over his last five starts. Two of his eight outings this season have been quality starts, and opponents are hitting .316 against him. Milwaukee is 2-6 with Garza on the mound.

My notes:
- Thanks for your service Mark Melancon. You were one of the best closers the Bucs ever had. Maybe only Teke and Guisti were better.
- NO THANKS to the Bucs FO for giving up on the season. They have, they just won't tell you because according to them, they're still "all in."
- I agree that the Bucs got a so-so return for MM. I don't know if that's the best NH could do.
- Moving on, we've got Frankie to try and prevent a sweep. Just great. The only saving grace is Garza is pitching for the Brewers and he's having a more dismal season than Frankie if that's possible.
- CUTCH WATCH: last night 0-4 and now hitting .241. Anytime now Cutch.
- From Huntington's language during last night's broadcast as reported by Bling Collector Ben, it does not sound like there will be another trade before the deadline, but you never know.

BEAT 'EM BUCS!!!

Thanks, as always, Jack.

Agree with everything that you posted there. I would add The Baron, Elroy Face, to that short list of all time great Buccos relievers. Shark was definitely in that group. He'll be missed, and I also thank him for his service. He usually made things "interesting", but just as usually got out of the jams he created with a Save to close the game.

I hate the Brewers. We need to at least salvage one. 13K's and no walks sounds good, Cisco, just like last time.

Let's GO Bucs!

If Cutch had been on the block earlier, we could have gotten a big haul for him.

Now? We might still get something, but not much.

I'd pack it in.

Look the Pens went all the way more than makes up for the Pirates.

I understand that the players are supposed to be professionals. But when the FO ships off their best relieve, all-star, and well liked clubhouse player for a bag of balls and a prospect that may be good in 2018 or 2019, well, it's gotta take some wind out of the already drooping sails.

Wasn't the inside scoop that the Bucs FO was really looking at 2017 as being the year? Well how does getting a fireball single A arm help them next year?

Rivero, the reliever they picked up is a pretty good arm. He is more than just a dime a dozen middle reliever. He has potential to be a strong back of the pen reliever. So he helps for next year. But I agree, this signals that the front office does not believe in this team. That has to kill moral. When the Commander in Chief waves the white flag the army stops fighting.

Well we won't be getting Rich Hill...he's off to the Dodgers Along with Josh Reddick.

I wonder if Neal has noised it about enough yet that "he's really trying to add to this team" when he never planned to all along.
