At PNC Park
Game time: 7:05PM ET
Probable starters:
MIA: David Phelps (6-6, 2.48 ERA)
PIT: Chad Kuhl (3-0, 3.73 ERA)

Quote:
The Marlins and Pirates square off in the second game of a weekend series at 7:05 p.m. ET on Saturday at PNC Park.

Rookie Chad Kuhl (3-0, 3.73 ERA) gets the start for the Pirates. The 23-year-old right-hander will make his seventh Major League start. In his last start, an 11-3 win at Dodger Stadium, he allowed two runs over six innings with five strikeouts and no walks. Kuhl has surrendered just four runs in 18 innings over his last three starts. The Pirates have been victorious in each of his first six starts.

"It's all about winning," Kuhl said. "I'm just going out there trying to compete and get through five or six innings and give your all no matter what you have that day."

The Marlins will send David Phelps (6-6, 2.48 ERA) to the mound for his fourth start of the season. Phelps has made a seamless transition to the rotation, where the right-hander is 1-1 with a 1.84 ERA in three outings. Phelps has built up to 91 pitches.

Three things to know about this game

• The Pirates have won their last four series and have posted a 10-3-2 record in their last 15 series since the Giants took three of four from the Bucs in Pittsburgh from June 20-23. In addition, the Bucs have gone 6-0-1 in their last seven series played at PNC Park.

• Marlins manager Don Mattingly is committed to giving Xavier Scruggs playing time at first base now that the 28-year-old has been called up from Triple-A New Orleans. Derek Dietrich had been getting many of the starts at first against right-handed pitchers.

• Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki was given a breather on Friday night, with Marcell Ozuna sliding over to right field. Ichiro is expected to get the start on Saturday.

I hope I'm wrong, but I keep waiting for the bottom to fall out on Kuhl. There really is nothing particularly impressive about his pitching.

3-0 Marlins bottom of the fifth. Never say die, but boy things look dire for this game. Bats cold with one hit right now.

see cutch is back home and sucking ass..fine error tonight to boot..this team is frustrating as fuck. on a good note. how bout nibbles? solid outta pen. I really believe the guy can be a quality arm outta the pen for a few innings at a time..definitely not starter material.
