douchebag Metheny chooses wainwright over kershaw to start the ASG, and Wainwright promptly loses the game in the 1st inning --

Good job Metheny - asshole

There should be a better system than letting the manager choose the starting pitcher -- always chooses the guy from his own team --

How can they take that decision out of his hands? Maybe let all the coaches vote on the starting pitcher, rather than the manager only.

they're marginally different statistically this year. Yes, Kershaw should have started....then again, Josh Harrison shouldnt have been on the team. That's the real problem though..you have guys trying to "win" in a game that relies heavily on fan voting, nostaligia, etc. Don't take it too seriously, even if thats what b aseball tries to force us to do.

Who knows whether Kershaw would have been any better?

The two guys' first halves were pretty nearly identical.

I do note with somewhat wry amusement that the five runs were all given up by two Cardinals' pitchers and that Brewers' third baseman Aramis Ramirez let the winning hit get past him.

Kershaw is head and shoulders above Wainwright.

Fucking Cardinals pitching lost the All-Star Game.

Also, Wainwright comes out saying he grooved Jeter a pitch.

Eyeball test Hall Monitor.

Experts will tell you Kershaw is the better pitcher. He faces harder competition.

The differences are negligible. Kershaw is not heads or tails dominant over Wainwright. It's not like Wainwright is some one-year wonder that was rolled out there over Kershaw.

There is no guarantee Kershaw would have shut the AL down, or that the NL would have won even had he done so. It's not the "no brainer" you want to make it out to be.

The big issue is that this game has some bearing on the World Series. That's dumb. Take that aspect away and they could have started Josh Harrison on the mound and I wouldn't give a shit.

I get that but again- this isn't some scrub pitcher that was thrown out there in place of Kershaw.
