At PNC Park
Game time: 7:05PM ET
Probable starters:
MIA: Vance Worley (0-2, 6.59 ERA)
PIT: Tyler Glasnow (2-5, 6.97 ERA)

Quote:
Pirates manager Clint Hurdle has seen both sides of former Pirates right-hander Vance Worley. He's witnessed times when Worley has frustrated opposing batters, but he's also seen times when Worley has struggled.

The Pirates are hoping for more of the latter when Worley and the Marlins square off against Pittsburgh right-hander Tyler Glasnow on Friday night at PNC Park.

Worley pitched for the Pirates in 2014 and '15, posting a 3.31 ERA in 41 games. He is one of the three former Bucs starting for the Marlins during the four-game series. Edinson Volquez started Thursday, and Jeff Locke is scheduled to pitch Sunday's series finale for the Marlins. But Hurdle suggested that the Pirates' first-hand knowledge of the Marlins' starters won't alter their preparation too much.

"These guys [in our lineup] haven't hit off them that much," Hurdle said. "Do we know them? Yes. But it doesn't help them hit. [Pitching coach] Ray [Searage] knows them really well. … But, again, it's going to come down to execution of pitches."

Glasnow will be making his first career start against the Marlins. The Pirates hope to get more innings from Glasnow, who has only recorded three quality starts in 11 outings. The rookie has a 6.97 ERA and has walked 5.2 batters per nine innings.

Things to know about this game

• Elias Diaz has capitalized on increased time behind the plate. Diaz became the Pirates' starting catcher after veteran catchers Chris Stewart and Francisco Cervelli sustained injuries. He has provided the Bucs' offense with a spark in his six starts, hitting 8-for-22 with three doubles, a home run and eight RBIs in those games.

• Pirates reliever Felipe Rivero continues to impress in late innings. Not only has he posted a 0.58 ERA over an MLB-most 31 appearances, but the southpaw also leads MLB pitchers in ground-ball rate (83.3 percent) and chase rate (59.7 percent) with two strikes in the count, and ranks second in that category in strike rate (77.6 percent).

• Marlins center fielder Christian Yelich has made the most of his visits to PNC Park. In 13 career games at the Pirates' ballpark, Yelich has posted a .385 average with five home runs and nine RBIs, recording at least one hit in 12 of those games. His career average at PNC is the seventh highest among active visiting players.

I fucked up yesterday and put tonight's starters as the starters yesterday. That's why no preview. Apologies, but I'm sure no one gives a shit at this point. I don't give a shit either to be honest.
