At Wrigley Field
Game time: 7:15PM ET
Probable starters:
PIT: Ivan Nova (8-6, 3.24 ERA)
CHC: Jake Arrieta (8-6, 4.33 ERA)

Quote:
Jake Arrieta has had his fair share of moments against the Pirates -- none bigger than his shutout in the 2015 National League Wild Card Game -- but he's also been part of a pretty special memory for one Bucs player in particular.

As Arrieta (8-6, 4.33 ERA) takes the mound Saturday for his start against right-hander Ivan Nova (8-6, 3.24 ERA) and the Pirates, it will be the one-year anniversary of Pittsburgh first baseman Josh Bell's debut. He entered the game at PNC Park in the seventh inning and hit a key single off Arrieta, eventually scoring the go-ahead run in an 8-4 win.

"I was having a lot of success in Triple-A at the time, so I was confident in the callup," Bell said, adding that his mother had texted him to remind him of the anniversary. "But then you're facing Arrieta, so you're like, 'This is a good test.' It was a slider, a slider down and away."

But if Arrieta can have his way, his start will resemble that Wild Card outing more than that meeting at PNC Park -- or any of his most recent outings against the Pirates.

While Arrieta went 9-1 with a 1.46 ERA in his first 12 outings against Pittsburgh, he is 0-3 with a 7.81 ERA in his past five starts against the Bucs. That includes a pair of outings this season, when he's given up a combined six runs (five earned) and three home runs in 10 1/3 innings.

Things to know about this game

• Nova posted five straight quality starts in April, punctuated by a shutout against the Marlins to drop his ERA to 1.50. He's cooled off since, allowing three or more earned runs in nine of his 12 starts.

• Arrieta has made the most of his home outings. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 3.86 ERA in five Wrigley starts this year. The Cubs have gone 4-1 in those games.

• Saturday isn't far from another anniversary for Bell. On July 9, he hit his first career grand slam, which came in a 12-6 win against the Cubs.

Nova with a nice outing. Polanco with a 2-run blast. Cutch with a gem of a catch. And they beat the asswipe Arrieta. Excellent win in Wrigley!

We had 'em all the way!
