Truth bomb: nowhere to go but down for the Pens :D

I feel like a sad, whiny, depressed Cryers fan could have said the same thing last year at this time.

But hey, don't forget, they went back to back, too. In the Nixon administration.

Really? Because Threepeating in the salary cap era would put this team in legendary status. Seems like this mountain has another summit they could climb.

This team is ALREADY legendary because no team has gone back-to-back in the salary cap era, EVER. This team has done what no team has ever done before.

Three-peating is virtually insane, but I think we all can agree that it's very possible with this team.

Talent exodus and now the coach that did a fabulous job with the Pens' PP.

Still many weeks between now and the start of next season so anything can happen...but if the Pens come anywhere close to three-peating, Mike Sullivan will be nominated for Godhood.

I wouldn't call it a talent exodus. Sure Bonino and Fleury hurt and maybe Daley to a small degree. Reaves will fill the Kunitz role fine and RF took care of the goaltender backup position.
The Pens resigned Pouliot so they must still consider him a part of the future.
If Cullen comes back that will be big so RF can concentrate on acquiring a third C. Throw in Sprong and the top 6 is sitting very pretty.

I think a 3 peat depends on health and if they(team) really want to do something extraordinary/legendary.

Talent Exodus?

Nick Bonino? I remember the trade that brought him him a couple years ago -- 99% of the board bitched and moaned about the trade and how much we gave up for this "nobody".... Funny how opinions change so quickly on "talent" evaluation.....

Kunitz? I love the guy but he's definitely over the hill and up in years. Not a huge loss. Reeves will step into his role quite nicely and will probably be much more effective too.

Fleury? Again, love the guy, but not a huge loss. He's a backup goalie.

Trevor Daley -- That one hurts, but again, he's not from the top pairing and he was an underperformer before he came here. Needless to say, joining the Pens seems to make a lot of guys play a lot better. We'll see if Daley and Bonino are as effective for their new teams as they were here.

No, this isn't a talent exodus -- this is expected turnover in the free agency era, and this year the turnover of talent was extremely low. We didn't lose any top 6 forward and didn't lose any top pairing D-men nor did we lose our starting goalie.

The core group is intact, and Letang returns from surgery. We re-signed Schultz which was huge. It has been a very successful offseason so far.

Getting dressed this morning I had to decide which Pens championship T shirt to wear. Would it be the 91-92 back to back one? Yes I still have one.
Or would it be the 2009, the 2016, the 2017 or the second back to back shirt.
So many choices, so many choices.

Do you think it's possible to have preserved a t-shirt from 1975?
