Nuttig's wallet has given us no choice but to follow and root for the closest big league team that cares.

Tonight could be win number 20 and the Indians are making believers out of everyone who thought the Dodgers and Astros were destined.

I'm not gonna lie, Dan Smith. I go to Tribe games and have a blast. I've been to 4-5 so far this season and hope to see some playoff games as well.

Growing up in NE Ohio and with the Tribe in the AL I have no issue rooting for them. Especially with nice seats, comped food & drink 8-)

20 straight.

Dodgers broke their 11-game losing streak last night.

I'm rooting for the Indians to win it all. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for them. It is the only thing from Cleveland I've ever rooted for. 20 straight wins is a helluva accomplishment. Anybody care to argue that the Indians aren't a team that is flourishing? The only other thing I'm pulling for is the Cubs to lose. I'd love to see the Cards or the Brewers catch them and crash their post season plans.

You wouldn't know it based on the attendance figures.

Cleveland fans are a strange bunch:

I lived in the Cleveland area from 97-04, when Indians' games were constantly sold out. Nowadays they can barely fill half the stadium and that's with a big reduction in seating capacity (cut from 43k to 35k). Last year was the same thing - they finished 28th in attendance and were a World Series team.

Ditto the Cavs - in non-Lebron years, they've consistently ranked among the worst teams in attendance.

Somehow, the Browns bucked this trend up until recently when they really started to suck and the Cavs & Indians became contenders.

Sorry for ranting. I guess my point is that Cleveland is really overrated as a sports town, and now that the championship losing streak is over I can't really get behind rooting for them. I can't back the Cards or Cubs, either. So uh...Go Brewers?

Tribe up 4-3 in the 6th...three innings away from taking the AL record...and tying the modern ML record...for consecutive victories with number 21.

They're at 21, tying the 1935 Cubs.

Next up is the 26 won by the 1916 Giants.

But they haven't won a World Series so they aren't flourishing under baseball's economic system...

I see what you did there.

Yes, they haven't flourished since 1948. Longest streak in the majors. MLB is the most fucked up sport in God's creation!

I prefer to look at it that the Indians are tied with the Rockies for best streak in modern history, 21-1.
8-)

By the way, I've never experienced anything like that Rockies run to the World Series. They were good and dead and buried when it started and swept the NL playoffs by the end of it.
