I think that Cleveland fans are delusional. Why would you go back to your ex girlfriend after shes been talking shit ever since you left?

But I don't think that Miami should be trying to get the band back together. If I were them I'd be trying to send Bosh to Houston and sign Kevin Love to less than max money, convince Wade to stop stealing money take a pay cut and go get a couple big men up front to make things easier on the team. Perimeter shooting woes can happen at any time and the Heat had way too many scoring swings this year that could be eliminated if they had a guy in the middle soaking up rebounds and blocking an occasional shot.

James agent has got him in a bind.

If he doesn't go to Cleveland now, he's going to be hated even more by everyone not a fan of whatever team he's on.

If he does, he's going to a team with an unproven roster (albeit one with lots of potential).

I think he goes to Cleveland. He wants to be the GOAT. If he just sticks in Miami with the big 3, it's going to be a big fat asterisk. He needs to will a team to a championship or two, and he knows it. He can do that in Cleveland. Plus, what a great narrative that would be.

And Cleveland fans should enthusiastically welcome him back and forgive him for leaving, if only so that someone under age 70 might eventually remember their city winning something if he can pull it off.

I think it'd be a good move to go back to Cleveland. Pair up with Kyrie Irving and Andrew Wiggins. I think with James they're an instant playoff contender.

I live in South Florida, so I desperately hope he goes back to Cleveland just so I can constantly stick it in the face of all these bandwagon Heat "fans" down here. But at the same time, it doesn't seem like he's got as good a chance to win back in Cleveland. So if he goes there it's for redemption. That Gilbert letter didn't come down off the site until a couple days ago so i'm wondering how much that letter is playing a role in all this. But you really can't blame the ex-girlfriend for talking shit. Lebron brought it on himself with the way he left. 4-5 years later The Decision looks every bit as bad as it did then. He wasn't hated because he left, he was hated for how he left. He knew he was leaving, he was working all these back room deals with Riley & Co. and while knowing that he drug the whole thing out and really left the Cavs in a lurch as far as making alternate arrangements. He strung them along and was dishonest with them about their chances throughout at least most of the process. I don't blame Gilbert one bit for that letter. I would have left out the part about the Cavs winning before Lebron, but everything else was a perfect reflection of what everyone there felt. And now Lebron has put himself in another tough decision back in Ohio. Now he's got them thinking he'll come back, and if he doesn't follow through on it he'll be hated all over again. I'd love to know what was discussed between Lebron and Gilbert this time around. I wonder how apologetic Gilbert was about the split years ago. And I would hope hope Lebron owned up to his part in it, because he fucked it up every bit as bad as Gilbert did.

Personally, I hope Lebron bolts for some surprise 3rd team like Houston or something.

Great article from Nate Silver.

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/leb ... cleveland/

He actually thinks Houston is the best place for Lebron to go, if he's looking to win a championship. Projects out to 69 wins with him on the roster (second best is Clips with 66 wins; Cavs and Heat both around 52).

South Florida! I hope he leaves so some of the huge Heat fans in Baltimore will be outed! lol There's one guy, last winter, HIS Ravens where eliminated in December, so he was like, "Well at least MY Ravens won the Super Bowl last year, this year, I'll just have to start rooting for MY Heat early!" I can't wait to ask him if he's been following HIS Heat next January if LeBron is anywhere else.

Pet peeve of mine...

Nate Silver doesn't make predictions. He analyzes stats and describes the statistical predictions.

Even here, he didn't say "LeBron will go to [not cleveland/miami]." He just said the stats show he'd be better off elsewhere if he wants to win a 'ship this year.

He did it right this time. This is a really good essay he did with that writer from SI explaining his decision.

My opinion means nothing. I am not a Heat nor a Cavs fan, but the reason he left Cleveland is because they had a horrible front office and the coaching situation wasnt conducive to winning the championship. Not much has changed so why should the results change now that they have James. I think going to Cleveland was about ego.In the end he can go there and have some success and not win and everyone there will love him because he came home and tried.

The only proven commodity there is Irving and he was one step away from leaving before there was a chance to get Lebron.

I don't claim to be any kind of basketball expert (and i'm no fan of the NBA), but did the Heat win anything because of coaching? Or was Spoelstra along for the ride? I guess we'll see how good of a coach he is now. I always thought the consensus was the Lebron had some input on the guys they brought in during his last go round in Cleveland, that he signed off on them. If not, I think he'll have a big say this time around. I'm sure he'd have put some conditions in place in agreeing to come back.

I'm LMAO at Cleveland fans cumming themselves, like a hot girlfriend that treated you like shit coming back and all is forgiven because you got nothing better.

What Lebron really said (I mean, ACTUALLY did say) - "I had to go get a ring and live in a great, fun city....now I'm ready to come back to CLE"

Here's to Lebron coming up short again and again to break hearts in CLE all over again!!

I believe that's true. I also think CLE might have won a championship with better coaching, but just a year or two earlier Lebron had endorsed the coach.

He probably has learned a few things from being in MIA, so maybe this time around he'll get better mileage from his "input".

Anyway, I'd rather the Cavs win a title than the Browns!

BINGO.

Winning one title in CLE is worth 3-4 more (if he could even win that many) anywhere else, as far as legacy.

When he left I referenced Ernie Banks. There's something noble about sticking it out with a long-suffering franchise, even if you fail. There's nothing noble about being a mercenary. I think his only choices were MIA and CLE - more rings anywhere else was never going to give him the recognition a Jordan or Kobe has as far as championships.

You sound like a douche. Go Cavs.

Not only Cleveland has Cavs fans. I've been a Cavs fan since I was old enough to watch basketball. Big Z was my dude before LeBron came. I watched LeBron play against my HS, he was a stud at 16 years old. He is a good guy too, does a lot for kids all around the country. Win or lose, he is a champion FOR THE WHOLE STATE OF OHIO. Everyone else doesn't have it like we do over here. It's electric even where I live in central Ohio. The Buckeyes are ALWAYS national news. Now the Browns are getting headlines. Manziel is a diant douche who I hope the Steelers embarrass, but he could be the real deal. The Cavs will win at least one championship.

LeBron came back because he is an Ohio guy. He wrote a great letter about how going to Miami was like going to college is for most people. Cleveland is where his heart is. They have a ton of young talent now, you obviously don't know anything about basketball. Irving, Waiters, Thompson, all lit it up during the season and all star weekend. Bennett looks great tonight, and Wiggins has potential. Not to mention the Cavs are close to completing a deal for Kevin Love.

Without LBJ, Miami wouldn't have won those two trophies.

Quote from LeBron's article;

"I feel my calling here goes above basketball. I have a responsibility to lead, in more ways than one, and I take that very seriously. My presence can make a difference in Miami, but I think it can mean more where I’m from. I want kids in Northeast Ohio, like the hundreds of Akron third-graders I sponsor through my foundation, to realize that there’s no better place to grow up. Maybe some of them will come home after college and start a family or open a business. That would make me smile. Our community, which has struggled so much, needs all the talent it can get."

And why do most people go to college? To have fun and to learn. He's saying he couldn't do that in CLE. Unintentional or not, that's a forehanded insult.

I can't explain in a post how this has affected Northeast Ohio. It goes way, way, way beyond basketball.

I am shocked at the emotions I personally experienced yesterday as this unfolded, reading the essay. I am not an emotional guy nor do I have more than a passing rooting interest in the Cavs. I teared up. Friends of mine who are true Cleveland fans were crying. Not trying to sound like a hard ass, but, these are tough men I have never seen cry.

Honestly I have no words for it. It seems silly that where some dude decides to play basketball could have so much of an affect on a region. All of the hype is true.

They're TOTALLY RIGHT to welcome him back! The choice is continue to be garbage forever in order to have PRIDE that you didn't welcome him back. Or just say piss on, come on back, we forgive you, and have some fun at least contending, instead of sucking.

I hope he can win a couple of titles there. I don't hate Cleveland like I do Baltimore. Often times it's fun to poke fun at them when it comes to the Browns and such but everyone on my mom's side of the family is from there. And whether most can admit it or not.....they and Buffalo are very much like Pittsburgh as far as the relationships these cities have with their teams. The people down here in South Florida have no concept of that, or anywhere else i've lived (northern and southern California). And there's no point trying to explain it. South Florida will be over Lebron by Monday morning.

I think it's funny how the entire city wrote him off and hated and now love him again

I think I'm going to market T shirts that say "I hate him" on the front and "I love him". On the back

It's fucking comical the complete 180 these clowns have done

Would you pass on a chance to win, just to hold a grudge? Not me! That's petty to me. I'd rather welcome him back, forgive and forget and return to the top, or near it, if I am a Cavs fan. And have FUN watching my team again for at least a few years, rather than SUCK just to hold that grudge. After all, sports is not some serious part of your life, like some religion or something, it's just a TV Show or an entertainment option, watching wins > watching losses.

I'm not in Cleveland so I wouldn't know but is it possible they never really HATED him but hated the spectacle that was "the decision"?

Regardless they have it good with him back, he's a better player now than when he left. You add LeBron with Kyrie, and Wiggins(or if they trade for Love) and they will in contention in the East next season.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

Cavs fans hated how he shit in their faces on national TV. My HS played against his, so I've been follwing his basketball career since he was a freshman. He was the chosen one for the whole state of Ohio. This is a guy who had all the hype in the world and actually lived up to it. That's why Dan Gilbert wrote the letter. He was crushed by LeBron, and so were Cavs fans across the country.

LeBron knew that what he did was immature and owned up to it.

He developed into a leader while carrying Miami on his back. The Cavs will be a legit threat to win it all for the next 5-7 years easy, barring injuries.

Bennett and Wiggins already look NBA ready in summer league. Bennett has lost 25ish pounds and looks athletic.
