I like it maybe you don't have to be old to pull it off.

I totally agree as I too also have this latent homosexual sartorial instinct. My wife keeps telling me i'm not allowed under any circumstances to wear an ascot, but it sure seems like a good idea to me.

Love it with the matching handkerchief. Key is to wear it low so it doesn't appear too 18th or 19th century or poofy. Loose around the neck is preferable to knotted tie IMHO.

Placate her fears by pledging to work double time while wearing ascot and nothing else to disprove any homophobic associations.

A conversation starter, for sure. Is the wearer a yachtsman, Duke of Windsor, a closet homosexual, a former all-Pro DB, or one of seven psychopaths?

As Wilde said, the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about...

Dan, you inspired me to order an ascot today. Here is the text convo I had with my wife.

Me: I ordered a cotton ascot.  Just warning you.
Wife: Oh god
Wife: The my gay husband show strikes a cord for some reason....
Me: lol
Wife: This is not good.
Me: Nah, it's a solid move.

Given your situation, it would have been gayer to not buy it. Congratulations, welcome on board the Yacht of the Seven Psychopaths.

That's pretty funny.

Although, it's also pretty funny that your wife thinks you are gay.

Either way, they both have made me chuckle and spit up a tad of the evening aperitif.
