It was never ending. Rodgers was the butt of jokes—some that he heard, many that he did not. A rumor circulated around the locker room that he was gay, based upon the fact that—unlike many of his teammates—he wasn’t one to brag about his penis size or his endless string of sexual conquests.

I was told there was no locker room talk of the sort...

but seriously, "he's gay"... that's what these guys came up with? What are they, 11?

Good read. Not at all surprising. It was evident toward the end of his Packers tenure that the whole "lovable good ol' boy" image of Favre was a fallacy. Perfect example of a guy playing to the cameras and broadcasting personalities in just the right way. He's a douche.

I had always heard they had no relationship, but wow. What an asshole Favre was. Although, to be fair, sounds like Rodgers was a bit of a tool and didn't do himself any favors.

I thought the same thing. First impressions are very difficult to change, and Rogers didn't make a good one. Regardless of what an ass Farvre was.

I agree Rodgers didn't come off well either as a rookie.

Sounds everything Rogers got he had coming. From the revelations about his relationship with his family recently, It seems Rogers is as much of or a bigger dick than Favre.

Nice to meet you Grandpa? from that point forward it was on.

I spent a few years (right around the same time period this article references, actually) living in Hattiesburg, MS...the town where Favre went to college and currently lives.

He's not particularly well liked in that town. Don't get me wrong, the local sports bars all have signed Favre paraphernalia on the walls, and they'd show Vikings/Jets games when he played for those teams.

They celebrated him as a celebrity figure...just because he's kind of the only claim to fame that town has. But the people who actually had significant interactions with him didn't like him at all, and I think most people living there kind of understood that his personality didn't live up to his reputation.

The shame of it all is that his wife is considered a saint. Very nice, very traditional Christian woman who was private, but very approachable.
