Cardinals WR was released after a DUI arrest. He is an UFA after the season. Wouldn't it be smart for some team to sign him solely for the compensatory pick he'll bring when he gets signed away in free agency? Talks were of him commanding $8 million per year before the arrest. And for a team desperate for a second WR for the playoffs, Floyd might make perfect sense right now.

If only. On the other hand, they took a flyer on cut, suspended Karlos Williams earlier in the season, so who knows. I'd certainly endorse it, if only for the comp pick, and when you add in the team's current desperate need...

the comp pick and #2 WR situation makes it a no-brainer... I have a feeling some team below the Steelers on the waiver order will take him, though.

I just thought about the waiver order. Oh, well.

I'm sure we'll do what we do. Great idea and would be a solid pickup for the playoffs.

This time of year, there will be no shortage of waiver claims for his services. Not going to happen boys....

Any player with at least four years of service that is released is not subject to the waiver process. They immediately become free agents and can sign with any team.

Wouldn't he be available to sign with the team of his choice?

Edit...Oops, forgot about the past the trade deadline clause.

Come here. Get yourself right. Get a ring. Sign wherever you like next year.

So far, the steelers track record for rehabing troubled players isn't so great.

How is the waiver ordered determined? Current W-L record?

The Patriots do, and if he ends up there, that would really suck.

Pats and Chiefs are reportedly interested. Steelers should really look into this.

Yes, ranking in order of 1-32.

I believe he still has to go to waivers though, because after the trade deadline date (Nov. 1) even vested players that have been released have to go through waivers.

Floyd has talent, but mentally he has been a mess this year. Still, the comp pick would be nice.

And they were below us on the waiver wire, eh?

Even setting aside cheating, Pats are playing chess and everyone else is playing checkers.

Is there any cost to the waiver claim?

Of course they did. Would you trade your 53rd man (really 53 could probably go back to the PS, so really, a PS guy) for the rest of the season for a possible 3rd, 4th or 5th comp pick next year? Makes sense to me (and the Pats), but I guess that's why I don't run the other 31 teams. I know we don't have access to the whole story, but if there's no much else to it, then it's stupid for most teams to pass up on this guy.

What the fuck?
Have any of you people actually watched Michael Floyd this season? He's hot garbage.
I'll take my chances with the talent we already have.

I haven't watched Michael Floyd this season. But it's a different situation than Karlos Williams, who is young, failing drug tests and showing up a fat fuck. Floyd apparently had a DUI. Otherwise his record has been clean.

I think it was his second DUI
