Cardinals WR was released after a DUI arrest. He is an UFA after the season. Wouldn't it be smart for some team to sign him solely for the compensatory pick he'll bring when he gets signed away in free agency? Talks were of him commanding $8 million per year before the arrest. And for a team desperate for a second WR for the playoffs, Floyd might make perfect sense right now.

If only. On the other hand, they took a flyer on cut, suspended Karlos Williams earlier in the season, so who knows. I'd certainly endorse it, if only for the comp pick, and when you add in the team's current desperate need...

the comp pick and #2 WR situation makes it a no-brainer... I have a feeling some team below the Steelers on the waiver order will take him, though.

I'm sure we'll do what we do. Great idea and would be a solid pickup for the playoffs.

This time of year, there will be no shortage of waiver claims for his services. Not going to happen boys....

Any player with at least four years of service that is released is not subject to the waiver process. They immediately become free agents and can sign with any team.

Wouldn't he be available to sign with the team of his choice?

Edit...Oops, forgot about the past the trade deadline clause.

So far, the steelers track record for rehabing troubled players isn't so great.
