A lot of criticism of Pats by New England talk radio......felt that Pats don't need him, concerned about disruption to locker room, concerned about Pats again picking up a bad guy.

It is not baseball so I don't take anything "Pats Fans" say for much.

why is it the "right thing to do" to release a guy and then blackball him for a DUI?

An unrestricted free agent after the season, Floyd will count as part of the Patriots' compensatory draft-pick formula if he signs elsewhere -- assuming he spends the rest of 2016 on the roster.

Above is from the ESPN story. The way I looked at it all along, wouldn't you be willing to pay a million dollars out solely in exchange for a 3rd or 4th round draft pick? Forget the player helping the team this year, just buy yourself another premium pick. If he can contribute by the playoffs, great. If not, oh well. Thanks for the comp pick. It's no wonder the Patriots have dominated the league for 16 years. A lot of teams are just stupid.

Spot on, Perch. Good catch by you from the beginning. I have watched Floyd quite a bit this year (do to FF) and he's been inconsistent at best, but the talent is there and he will get paid by someone if he shows he's cleaned up his act even a little. He's gonna bring a 4th or 5th at least to the Pats (if he stays the year) imo.
