A Co-Worker and friend of my wife's lost her 8 y.o. daughter several weeks ago in a car accident. The investigation showed that the 46 y.o. driver of the other car was texting at the time and ran the stop sign, resulting in her death. The little girl was her only child and due to complications at birth, she is unable to have any other children, which made her daughter that much more precious to her. Please watch, think, and share with family and friends as this happens all too often these days. Most people think they are okay because they just take quick glances, but it only takes a moment to destroy someone's life and family.

Sorry to hear that. Condolences. . .

My cousin's wife lost her brother due to someone texting on the highway. Slammed right into him while he was working on his bike on the shoulder.

Also, this :

A Werner Herzog documentary on auto accidents as a result of texting. He interviews some victims that survived and those that committed the act.

Jarring stuff.

If the original post stops one person from texting while driving, you have done well to place it here despite being against the rules. It's a slow time of the year & as it's not politically-minded, I'm glad it's still up. I still sometime text stopped at a red light which is also illegal here in Toronto & taking a chance on getting caught by the police but at least, I put no one's life in danger. The moment the light turns green, I throw the phone down. Texting while driving is crazy-dangerous.

Phoning is no different. Laws preventing this should be put in place. NO while driving!

Very sad and very preventable story, sorry for the loss.

My daughter is learning to drive this summer and she has two rules before that car starts....1. Turn your damn phone off! 2. Put your damn seatbelt on. The seatbelt is a no brainer since it's been habit since she was little, the phone, I'll take it if I find out ONCE she has it on while driving. I couldn't imagine having to live with someone else dying due to pure selfishness.

It shouldn't take a video or a reminder, but unfortunately for some it does. Some people don't even care after seeing videos like this, it's ridiculous.

Wow, this is just heartbreaking. I have an 11 month old daughter and the thought of losing her is awful, let alone losing her because of bullshit. I can't believe the number of people I see on their phones in rush hour traffic during the mornings and evenings as I travel to/from work. One idiot could literally cause a 30 car pileup. About two years ago, I missed getting t-boned by about 30 feet as a guy blew through a stop sign going about 40 mph. He was looking down as he passed right in front of my car.

Ive seen people with full on iPads on the steering wheel reading or watching video while driving.

Also am seeing people vaping while driving with increased regularity.

They should make a federal law..

First offense: One year loss of license and a 1k dollar fine (Mandatory)
Second time: 5 year and 5k fine.
Third time 10 K fine Loss of license for life.. Welcome to public transportation.

Same with DWI.... If you don't know not to drink and drive in 2017 then you don't need to be behind the wheel of a car...EVER!!

The problem with our society is we are to nice to people that need to be slammed..

This depends entirely on how rich and powerful you are. The american judicial system works on a sliding scale based on money, power, and race.

Oh No doubt about that...
No one would like my take on what needs to be done.. but let me say this... I could fix the death row crowding problem in about 2 days.. of course we would have to hire a whole shit load of janitors to clean the mess up..
