He says suspension and fine won't stop from playing physical. He played the same way his whole life. Brown promised to pay his fine but so far isn't coming through. He should give a transfusion to Artie S'more.

Bottom line Juju layed out Burfict on a Legal block and Steelers Nation appreciates it.

C'mon, that block wasn't legal - blindside hit with all kinds of helmet-to-helmet contact.

Doesn't make me (nor most guys in the NFL, I imagine) appreciate it any less.

I've watched it like 20 times. There's no question his helmet hit Burfict right on the chin. I don't know where the idea this was a clean hit came from. Doesn't matter if he led with the shoulder, there was h2h contact.

I don't think it was dirty, but it sure as hell wasn't legal.

Borderline at the most. In real time shoulder to chest. In ultra HD slow motion he made incidental contact with HTH. If burfict's demented head was hurt it was when his head hit the turf.

It was 5 feet from the play and he hit his straight on. I loved it.

Nothing at all illegal. That’s the way downfield blocking is taught today. Lead with the shoulder to the chest...helmet to helmet is inevitable, but he didn’t lead with the crown, and it certainly was not blindside. Burfict was closing in to make a tackle, and JuJu was in front of him. Blew his ass up. A perfectly good, hard nosed football play at every level except the fucked up NFL...

Sure, but outside the shoulder and upfield, making it a blindside block. H2H is a penalty every time. It's the Hines Ward rule - you CANNOT have H2H, incidental or otherwise.

It's an illegal block. Quit crying about it.

Exactly. You can question whether the rules should be changed, but by definition the hit was 100% illegal.

Not crying, just discussing....I stick by what I posted.
Now if you want to see dirty, blindside blocks, dial up some Hines Ward “highlights”.
And helmet to helmet most certainly is not a penalty every time.

Helmet to helmet hits happen every play in every game. Period. JJSS put his head across MB's chest and hit him in the chest with his shoulder. The HTH contact was just above JJ's earhole to just below MB's earhole to the bottom of his facemask. He didn't lead with the crown of his helmet and MB was not "defenseless" He was focused on the runner 2 yards away from him and not on JJ. Look for the images. Agree to disagree. If JJ had just planted MB and kept going and hit someone else, there would never have been a flag.

Then how was he supposed to hit him, exactly?

In the fucking knees?

Nobody's crying. It was a horseshit call.

Really that simple.

I wish people would quit whining about it being illegal. Who cares? I WANT my WRs to do that block every single game!!!

I said this before we drafted a WR in the 2nd round, that we needed a bad ass, a physical, borderline-dirty blocking WR like Hines Ward again to get some of that nastiness and swagger back. I wanted JuJu and we got JuJu. Just what the doctor ordered.

Wait, I thought crack back blocks were illegal, where the recipient can't see the on coming block? Jujus block was in direct line of sight with zero helmet contact until tafter the contact. Within rules.

Contact to the head was incidental. He hit him in the chest with his shoulder. JuJu was traveling parallel to the lines on the field, not coming from up field and moving back toward his own line of scrimmage. By the definition given in another thread - that is not a crack back block, period, thus not illegal. He does need to aim for the bottom of the sternum next time to be sure that the incidental contact with the head doesn't happen (although the brute force of the block would likely cause the opponent's head to dive forward resulting in his facemask bouncing off JuJu's helmet - again incidental contact bullshit). Loved the hit - if I get a jersey, it will be his!!!

looks like his hammy is acting up

Quote:
JuJu Smith-Schuster was added to the Steelers' injury report on Thursday, getting in a limited session with a hamstring issue.

Smith-Schuster spent the second half of November battling hamstring problems, but didn't miss any game action
