Steelers hire Bill Stewart's son as offensive assistant
Mike Tomlin has a storied history with the Stewart family, as Bill gave him his first coaching job on the staff at Virginia Military Institute in 1995. https://247sports.com/nfl/pittsburgh-st ... -114729118

I for one was not happy when they decided to have Fitchner be the OC/QB coach. Really thought they needed to bring in somebody to be the new QB coach and help Randy out. Expecting him to wear both hats, run the offense, call plays and then still somehow have the time to give Josh Dobbs or another high draft pick QB the time and attention that they need is very daunting IMO.

I don't think hiring Stewart replaces that need for a QB coach, but hey, it does help. This team needs a fresh set of eyes, and it seems like he will be a quality control type of assistant for the offense. There is always grunt work needing to be done, scrubbing film, etc, and if this takes time and hours off of Randy's full plate then it will be a good and worthwhile hire.

I knew that they had to bring in some more pieces to the coaching staff on offense. Maybe they are not done yet.

And what if he were the first former Steeler to actually be a good coach?
