I'll take this one. I seemed to have had some luck during the playoffs either last year, year before, or both.

Daily Face-off has Jarry in net, but unconfirmed. How 'bout we get back to playing some defense tonight.

Change is good.

All I ask is if anyone starts the thread INCLUDE the projected lines PLEASE!

Penguins projected lineup
Jake Guentzel -- Sidney Crosby -- Bryan Rust

Carl Hagelin -- Evgeni Malkin -- Patric Hornqvist

Conor Sheary -- Derick Brassard -- Phil Kessel

Tom Kuhnhackl -- Riley Sheahan -- Carter Rowney

Brian Dumoulin -- Kris Letang

Olli Maatta -- Justin Schultz

Matt Hunwick -- Jamie Oleksiak

Tristan Jarry

Casey DeSmith

Scratched: Chad Ruhwedel, Dominik Simon

Injured: Matt Murray (concussion), Zach Aston-Reese (upper body)

On a side note: I'm watching 'Interstellar' prior to the game and Cooper just passed through the event horizon and is about to meet the singularity. What an incredible movie.

You better handle it then, Fractal....or someone else. I know my limits, and won't be able to post projected starting lineups every game.

Sheary down to the fourth line in place of Rowney-Yes!

And the Pens/Mario foundation assholes site for the charity bags is broken. People are pissed.

Just go to NHL.com where the games scroll across near the top. Click game center for the Pens game and you will be taken to a page where you will see a short write up along with the projected lines.
I add this because it gives us an idea if there are going to be changes.
Of course today they got it wrong on two accounts.

That might have been the worst hockey goal I've ever seen, at any level, and I am including my own goals given up in garbage intramural floor hockey. If I became the Pens goaltender for the second period, that's what every save attempt would look like.

Wow,
they let so much shit go tonight and they called that. Technically it was too many men on the ice but the refs have looked the other way so much...

Great kill

Pens never had the lead until the last shot/last second. Huge 2 points.

The Pens were much better defensively tonight. Happy for Jarry because those were fluky goals that went in against him.

Right....both Isles goals, wicked flukes. Penguins were dominating this game, especially 1st period.

Penguins 37-29.

Flyers 34-31.

Yet the Flyers are ahead in the standings.

GET RID OF THE GODDAM EXTRA POINT FOR OT GAMES!

IT’S MORONIC NOW THAT GAMES CAN’T END IN A TIE!

I'm not going to say it was ONLY benching Hunwick, but without him the pairings and defensive play on the back end was a lot better/cleaner. Ruh played very well, I thought.

It's fine... just award 3 points for a regulation win.

118 for Washington, 115 for the Pens, 113 for Philly. Better representation for the results.

Anything that gets rid of the extra point being created out of thin air just because the game went into OT.

Although the Caps are 37-28 and the Pens are 37-29...under your method that translates out to the Caps being three points better (one extra win). I suppose that’s OK if you look at it from a loss column perspective, but I’d rather cut out the counting points crap to begin with and just go by standings.

Although- if the Caps were then to lose another game, both they and the Pens would be 37-29...and the Caps would STILL be three points ahead.

I don’t believe a team should get credit for just making the game go to OT. A win is a win.

I don't know shit about hockey, but....I'm okay with the current system of awarding a point for a overtime loss, but honestly, can't clearly explain my thought process.

I think it has to do with the tie game being so much more a part of hockey than any other major sport, and the rules put in place to eliminate ties, particularly the shootout, but even 4-on-4, and now 3-on-3, are such a departure from the game that's played for 60 minutes.

My being okay with it then...and I'm typing as I'm thinking, always a dangerous practice, is that a team played for a tie during that 60 minute time frame where hockey is played as it was intended. I do know that watching the Penguins every game this season on nhl TV, I always take some comfort when a game is winding down its final seconds tied, know that the Pens will come out with a point. Granted, I'm not thinking about the Flyers or Caps accumulating that point more often than the Pens.

Did a little research....always assumed that regular season OT was a relatively new development, coming into play in '83, then shootouts added in '05. However, OT existed until '42 when it was suspended due to restrictions on train scheduling during wartime.

https://www.foxsports.com/nhl/gallery/t ... ory-031715

Also, just now noticing that Cryers are 2-6 in shootouts and NHL clearly treats shootout wins/losses differently than regulation or overtime.

Big win, exciting win!

Amazed the Rue made such a big difference. I guess Hunwick is that bad. They have a problem if they keep playing him.

He is.

11 of 17 goals against he was once the ice in that 3 game losing streak.

The second part of JR's terrible offseason. Fortunately, like Reaves before him, the Penguins can hit him up with a healthy scratch. To think, if JR wouldn't have done a damn thing this offseason in regards to acquisitions, this team would still has Cole as depth.

What also helped in the game yesterday was Sullivan actually made a decent 4th line. Surprising!

Sheahan and Sheary had chemistry when they were part of the 3rd line. Kuhn is acceptable playing 3rd wheel in that spot but would of course rather have Zar or sprong in his spot

Defense concerns me more than anything, but hopefully ruh fixes it

What concerns me most is how Sidney Crosby looks like a 45-year-old father taking a Saturday skate with his son out there. I think I can cut my turns harder than he has been at this point, and I haven't skated in 5 years. I'm really hoping he's cruising and saving himself for the playoffs.

This stretch reminds me a lot of the Pens 2 years ago under Sullivan. They've had significant roster turnover in that every line is pretty new since the TDL. It took about five games for the team to "adjust" to Sullivan as their coach two years ago. With a new third line center, backup goalies in, transitions on D without Cole, and a new feel to every line, this team needs to build some chemistry and continuity. Hopefully we've seen the last of Hunwick and Rowney.
