Dude is either unlucky or too fragile for NFL. Seems like he has always had some boo boo since training camp.
After that first preseason game the media was predicting Defensive ROTY for him but he got hurt next game.
Frustrating year for the kid.

we joked about his small frame, but seriously, it's becoming a real problem.

He already has.

We're way to quick to write people off. Give the kid a chance.

he's played in 5 of 8 games so far, definitely out this week though so make that 5 of 9

on pace to play in about 8 games this season

He's had some rotten luck with both injuries, as the first was friendly fire from Timmons and the second one he was rolled up on in the middle of a pile. Anyone would have gotten been hurt from those.

some guys just have more give in ligaments than others. Like when Deebo got rolled up on. A lot of players would have been done for good from that. The human body is a mysterious thing.

Not writing him off yet, but his frame seems fragile and so far he seems like the type that injuries seem to follow.

I do not understand where the size or fragile frame remarks originate? Is it because he is damn fast and strong for his size? He must have some weakness other than an inability to grow hair?
The Shazier kid is 6'1" - 237
Timmons is 6'1" - 234
Other starting 3-4 ILB of note in AFC Central
CJ Mosely - 6'2" - 235
Chris Kirksey - 6'2" - 235
Other ILB to consider:
L Kuechley - 6'3" 238
L Foote - 6"1" 239

When Shazier is not hurt he looked better than Mosely to me. His stats suggested as much. Shamarkos hammies are much more troublesome to me at this point. This is exactly when he was needed and had a chance to gracefully usurp his position. Instead he hurt himself simply chasing Jacoby Jones.

Good, sensible post, Strom.

Height and weight alone does not tell you about someone's frame. Granted Shaz is on the short side. Small frame means he has narrow shoulders, narrow hips, and thin limbs. This explains the frequency of ankle/leg injuries so far. Despite his weight, he's just not sturdily built.

You are aware that by the time Farrior hung up his cleats he was barely over 200# ,right?

Good fucking lord you are fixated on another man's build...

Never saw those pics. Wow, he is tiny. That 238 at the combine must have been a whole lot of creatine and forced drinking. Never understood this pick. I thought Mosely was much better-even in coverage. Sparty and Clemson out and out abused him by running at him to close out last year and now I can see why. One look at those pics and it's easy to see why his knee swelled up after the second day of contact in camp.
